You thoughts on Denzel's "Man on Fire" trailer??
I am pretty sure this is a remake, anyways I think this looks really good, very dark and gritty. I can't wait.
Any thoughts about this movie/trailer? Has anybody seen this movie yet?

Actually, it a remake of a film that was made in 1987 - haven't seen the film, but IMDB has a page about it here:

I think my friend is the only one who saw that trailer and remembered the original it was based off of but I think the trailer is kick ass and Denzel going Punisher the right way cant be bad.

The plot is similar to A Man Apart (and how many other action movies, really?), but most of the time it's the execution that counts.
That said, I'm looking forward to this. I think it looks to be better than Tony Scott's last couple.

I'm holding out hope since Tony Scott is involved - he usually knows what he is doing.

You know, I became a huge fan of Denzel after seeing Training Day and I thought he did a great job in Fallen, but Man on Fire looks like one of those boring "try to thrill me thrillers but can't get close because I'm from a major studio that just wants to make a lot of money and then make another really crappy film right away to get my last paycheck" films - you know?

Tony Scott is pretty good and I really hope this movie isn't what I described above :-/

First off, if u saw A Man Apart, and even from the trailers, you'd know the movies dont have similar plots at all. On a similar note, anyone notice the latest Punisher tv ads going the "A Man Apart" route and using some ***** rock ballad , thats supposed to make me want to go see it? A Man Apart and Punisher are similar.

It does look intense, surprisingly much so even for Tony Scott, and also since it's a trailer and those are hardly ever harrowing in tone.
Nice use of a NiN track, though. :-)

This film has two things going against it:
1. Dakota Fanning. This is really the biggest issue. Dakota Fanning, simply by existing, has managed to ruin every film she's been in. She is one of the worst child actors I have ever seen. Seeing her name on the cast list is alone enough to make me not see the film.
2. Since when are they putting the taglines into the script itself? I mean, "Anything can be an art, and he's about to paint his masterpiece" or whatever Walken says...give me a break. That's the line you laugh at when you see it at the bottom of a poster. That's not a line you give to Christopher Walken.

From the few things Ive seen her in Fanning has been one of the better child actors in my opinion, maybe bacause they threw her in a dozen films after I Am Sam hurt her cred but she was great in TAKEN. I like the masterpiece quote, and something ridiculous, coming out of Walken's mouth, sounds cool to me.
