'HYPE'..is it too powerful????
It's something that happens to a lot of movies, and though most of the time I pay no attention to it, sometimes it just grips a hold of me. A great example and one that I'm sure a lot of you know about is Star Wars! Now I think that Empire lived up to the hype, however can't say that the others did..maybe ep. III will..
Another one that I feel I must mention is Lord of the Rings: Return of the King...Now that is the first movie that I have seen in a long, long time that truly delivered along with the hype...Do many of you get drawn into the "hype" web...or am I just too into movies and have too high of expectations??

Speaking as a forum member, I must say that Hype is something any of us will face. Frankly, if you know how to operate a computer and frequent any message board, it would be hard to not get sucked up into the HYPE of a film.
Star Wars was the clear cut example on Hype gone wrong. Though in it's defense, Jesus could have walked out of the screen, gave everyone a hundred bucks and they would have still not been happy with it. all those years without a star wars film did a lot to make the public go crazy.

Depends what you mean by hype. Is hype when friends thinking a movie is cool by the previews? Or is hype just spending a lot of money on advertising? Or is hype a string of great reviews? Or is hype based on marketing tie-ins? Or is hype a big budget? Or is hype getting the talking heads on Entertainment Tonight to talk about it?
