Weigh In: THE most over-used trailer cliché

"In a world . . ."
and its evil progeny —
"In a world of . . ."
"In a world where . . ."
"In a world that . . ."

And not to be outdone, its halfwit third cousin —
"Their world . . ."
and its idiot twin
"Her world . . ."
"His world . . ."
"Their world . . ."

And why is it always the voice of that same guy saying it? LOL Add your favorites, and I'll compile them into a POLL for Worst Trailer Cliché.

MISS PEACH
No Airstream jokes now tsk.

Every action movie trailer that has that same guy saying "NOW!" followed by a clip then him again saying "THE RIDE" followed by another clip then him saying "IS ABOUT" followed by ...well you get the idea.

The quick shot at the end of the trailer. You know the trailer plays through...it goes quiet...and then BOOM...some quick shot of whatever. First trailer I remember it in was Twister, but it's in EVERYTHING.

I hope every one of you has gotten the chance to catch Pablo Francisco's renditions of each of these cliche's. Brilliant! He's got an episode of Comedy Central Presents and he spends the last 10-odd minutes doing the movie trailer guy's voice and joking about it. Anyways, my favorite, "(insert actor) IS (name of movie describing or naming actor's character)"

Besides "Click Click Boom", I also hear the "Let the Bodies Hit the Floor" one waaaay too often.

"One man..."

"From the guy who cleans the pool of a dude who once went to see the film Independence Day..."

SO annoying...I couldn't believe that after a w hile they were still doing it..and using it for EVERY action movie between 2000-2003. Horrible.

This actually made me go see Insomnia. "Academy award winner Robin Williams, Academy award winner Al Pacino, Academy award winner Hillary Swank...in...the MOST BORING MOVIE EVER!!!"

I do think, however, that Angelina Jolie should be barred from using this before any introduction. Complete fluke.

Quick flashes of "scary" scenes accompanied by a loud heartbeat on the soundtrack.

"They say _____. They say ______. But what they don't say _____."

Nowhere near as common as "in a world" but you still hear this from time to time.

The inverse version of this is also pretty common:

"From the makers of [some unrelated, much much better film]...", where it turns out that they were the 4th Executive Producer of the better film, but the director of this POS.

1. The trailer establishes the world of the protagonist, then you hear the scratch of a needle being yanked off a record (if comedy) or silence (if drama) and a slo-mo scene establishes the new world.

2. In action movies, very very quiet at the beginning of the trailers, than EXPLODE with some moronic nu metal and a sparks-flying chase scene.

3. Romantic comedy: lots of affirming female-voiced disco songs (think "I Will Survive") with hand-clapping.

The "Movie Trailer" guy....

Too bad there's not a site where you can type in a phrase and hear the "Movie Trailer" guy's voice read it, LIKE THIS

"Hey KenBuzz, remember when you dropped me last season? Well, sucka, that last TD was for you. You're done, boy. How did I get your number, 1-800-LOSER, that's how! Your season is over, what do you think about that!?!"
