LotR:RotK Who is the actor playing Smeagol?

At the very beginning of the movie, who is the actor playing Smeagol in the boat with Deagol?

It looks like both Andy Serkis (but heavier) and the guy who played Wormtongue.

Wormtongue was played by Brad Dourif, who has also been in One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, Dune, and Alien: Resurrection, among many other things.

O'course it was Andy Serkis. That way Serkis could be eligible for a best-actor award, which he didn't get nominated for, but at least he was eligible.

Actually, there's no technical requirement that an actor appear "in the flesh" to be an eligible for an Oscar. For example, voice actors in animated movies are all theoretically eligible. They just never get nominated!
