Me too. They are 2 of my favorite American films of the past decade & I truly feel the first one does not get the credit it deserves. It is largely responsible for making comics a viable movie genre again & it did so with an "R" rating. And I know Matrix fans will cry over it, but the Matrix IMO borrowed heavily from Blade, especially the lobby shoot out scene.

I did the second movie even more & think the fights are amazing in it, despite the bad CGI in the first fight which the director himself wishes he never did.

I cannot wait for the 3rd one & as long as David Goyer is on board, I have faith is will be a phenomenal movie.

How do you know HHH won't pull some strings to find a way for his character to survive and come back after the credits of something? Him dying would involve a clean victory by Blade you know.

Let's see if I can remember what I've noticed. The Matrix was in production before Blade was released(though Blade seemed to have a long production time).

Similar themes, at one point Blade says something like "The world you know is a fantasy..." revealing to the lead actress that the world is really run by vampires, similar to the "The world is really the Matrix" idea.

In the escape from the hospital, there is an overhead shot of Blade jumping buildings that is almost identical to the opening with Trinity and the Agent in The Matrix.

I don't know how much I buy into the "Matrix ripped-off Blade" theory. The Matrix and the Invisibles, on the other hand...

HHH is my main concern with the flick, which I guess is a small quible, the guys a bad actor in wrestling, where bad acting is king, even he sticks out.

Ryan Reynold, Jessica Biel, Dominic Purcell, James Remar....that is one pretty cool list of supporting characters if you ask me.

Not yet, but I'm hoping to see one soon. David Goyer(the screenwriter of X2)is writing and directing, so it could be interesting. I only wish Guillermo Del Toro was the man behind the camera; I loved his work on Blade 2, and I can't wait to see what he does with Hellboy this summer.

Goyer also wrote the first two Blade films, as well as Dark City. I also just noticed that he is the scribe behind Nolan's Batman film.

I did indeed mean X2 because I was told that he wrote a very early draft of the screenplay, but I wasn't aware that he didn't get screen credit for it. I also heard that he had been asked to pen a draft for X3. With films like this to his credit(especially Dark City)it seems that the Blade franchise is in capable hands.

Interesting - I did not know that (obviously). That's cool if he turns out penning X3, too.

Still no Morbious? Damn, oh well I'll check it out anyway. I just hope the CG is kept to a minimum. I liked Blade 2 but that CG fight in front of the lights was not needed. All that could have been done with wires, and such.

If you listen to the directory commentary on Blade 2, you'll hear that Del Toro was experimenting, with a CGI & camera technique that has never been used before, so I respect him for trying to innovate. And even he himself, said the result on film makes him cringe & he wishes he could do it all over again without the CGI.

That said, I think I'm the biggest Blade movie fan on these boards. I think Blade is one of the most underrated movies of the past decade, perhaps completely responsible for making comic book movies a viable movie commodity again. I loved the second one even better, but I'm a bit worried about the third simply b/c Goyer (while I'm a huge fan of his scripts & comics) has never directed before.

I think Goyer actually directed a little film called Zig Zag that had Oliver Platt and Wesley Snipes in it. In fact, I think I remember seeing the main villain from Blade 2 in it as well.

As for "the main villain", that's Luke Goss (Nomak from B2). As cool as he was in Blade II - legitimately cool - I can't shake the image of '808's boy-band BROS out of my head when he's on screen!

Same thing happened watching the Kemp brothers in The Krays, but that admittedly had less vampires.
