Both are excellent actors. But I'll give slight edge to Brad for his work in Fight Club and 12 Monkeys.

I would say Johnny Depp is the superior actor. He just...is a chameleon, being able to tackle so many different types of roles and do them so well, and being able to take a simple character and breath such life into them.

Brad Pitt is a quality actor, but he isn't nearly as talented as Depp IMO. On the flip side, in general I'd say he picks much more interesting projects to work on, while Depp has languished in some junk I care not to watch (though he has been in some truly great films, working with Gilliam and Burton and such).

I'm going with Depp...Pitt is a good actor, but doesnt seem to bring much to a character...Depp is amazing, very talented and makes every character he plays so unique.

Johnny Depp has just been doing great work for too long to be overshadowed by Pitt.

Brad has done good work and I appreciate him taking risks like Fight Club and Snatch.

I vote Pitt.

Depp has that "quirky" thing going, which wins him a lot of points for "originality", but he is not nearly as capable of playing a charasmatic traditional leading man and definitely loses out to Pitt in action/physical roles.

I honestly thin Pitt has more range, although I freely admit Depp has more "bravura" turns to his name.

I admire both of them, but I think Sean Penn and Daniel Day Lewis both whip ass on these guys.

Depp, no question. Brad Pitt has certainly grown on me over the past 5 years, but Johnny Depp just has a lot more talent and range IMO.

Difficult question, both of them are exceptional, but I have to agree with the poll so far. I think Depp has a bit more depth, though I have one complaint, is it me, or does he have the aboslute worst british accent? Just doesn't work for me, but man does he pick the good roles.

Johnny Depp by far. And actually, I think he has an ok british accent, at least better than Gwyneth Paltrow IMO. But then again, I'm not british so who am i to judge.

Depp all the way. Pitt is good, but he cannot resist the temptation to still play the matinee idol now and then. Depp consistently loses himself in every role, while Pitt alternates between Tyler Durden type roles and Joe Black.

Depp, he has far more range than Pitt. Look at Interview w/ a Vamp or Meet Joe Black. Pitt comes off very wooden and IMO was the wrong person for both of these roles. I think Pitt is very talented and is one of my top actors, but Depp wins hands down.

Pitt is a pretty boy first, actor second. I couldn't stand him until 12 Monkeys came out. Killer performance along with Snatch and Fight Club. But other than those three he is pretty stale.

I don't think Pitt is even in the same league as Depp. His roles are nearly as diverse as Depp. I think Pitt plays the same character in a lot of movies. Depp is SO different in every single role he takes. Depp can also transform himself where you completely forget it's Johnny Depp which to me is the ultimate sign of an elite actor. POTC, Edward Scissorhand, Ed Wood, you don't even think that it's Depp. Pitt you always know it's Pitt. Be it 12 Monkeys or Fight Club. He just uses a twitch more in some roles than others. I really don't see why so many people think he's a great actor.

Both are good, but Depp is the better actor by a mile. I would actually enjoy seeing them in a movie together...I think there could be some good chemistry there.

Depp is the better actor. He is able to disappear into his roles. The closest Pitt has come to this is "Fight Club" (and I thought he did a fine job.)

Depp. Anyone who can pull off Ed Wood and Hunter S. Thompson is alright in my book.

I'd say Depp, but not by the margin a lot of people have given him. There's a tendancy to dismiss Pitt because of his looks, but I don't think you can quarrel with his performances in 12 Monkeys, Seven, and Fight Club. Yeah, there's been some garbage in there, too, but Depp's got his share of garbage as well.

Depp. Can Pitt do what Depp did in Ed Wood?
