I think Jack Black is an awesome, though totally unexpected, choice.
Not all "funny guys" are funny all the time, quite a few can be really great with drama and stuff. Just because his trademark is being a bufoon it doesn't mean that's all he can do.
But ya never know, maybe this remake isn't what we're thinking and it's gonna be a musical comedy with Tenacious D doing the original score too
