maybe it's just me, but I think that this thread is gettin' ridiculous. if you don't like mainstream hip-hop culture so much that you dismiss this movie before even watchin' it, then why would you even click on this thread?

If you don't understand something, don't pre-judge it without knowin' nething about it, cuz that just makes you sound ignorant. But I guess that's the beauty of the internet.

Believe me, b-boyin' may not be in the mainstream so much nemore, but it's still an art form that takes lots of skill and practice to master. Most normal ppl would injure themselves if they tried any of the dance moves in that movie.

Like I've said before, the movie does look kinda stupid, but it's worth it just to see the dope dancers.

funny though, I created the thread with the thought that this would be were we would bash such an awful looking movie.

Not so much the culture since I don't mind hip hop or rap, and for that matter listen to it at times. But honestly, this movie looks insanely silly.

I'll take your word for it that someone can actually do the head slide, but that doesn't mean I might think it looks silly. I'd rather look at the "Days go by" video to see someone taking it to the streets on some cardboard.

BABY BAAAAABY! WORD! uh.. yeah.

We had several fights at the theater downtown on Saturday night. I also read that other cities had problems as well.

yup.

for a movie about NOT fighting and settling problems and disputes through creative outlets such as dancing, it sure failed...

I am a huge fan of hip hop and have respect for b-boyin, but I don't think these are the root of the problems most have with this movie. If it looked like a good film with b-boyin I would see it in a second. But when Lil Kim is telling members of teenie-bopping B2K "Keep it grimy, straight street," I can't help but call this movie ridiculous. I almost fell on the floor laughing when I heard that line. I am astounded and saddened it got number one movie as now there will certainly be more "grimy, straight street" films featuring other teenie-boppers.
