Question about Heat
Just saw this film tonight, thought it was really good.
I searched on here, and didn't see any mention of it, so here is my question.
Why is it that De Niro and Pacino are not in the same frame together?

They WERE on the set together.

The reason why it's so talked about is because a lot people seem to feel that they're very alike. Both kinda italian, bla bla.
And they are in the same frame together. When he pulls him over, and the last frame.

i actually heard that they were never on set together. the restaurant scene was just shot one person at a time.

And, although it had to be pointed out to me, they do appear in the same frame together in one shot when Pacino pulls DeNiro over. The camera shoots across Deniro's face in the foreground and also shows Pacino in the background. Watch it again

Mann's choice to show them only in reverses was probably due to him wanting to suggest the simmilarity between these men. Almost like they're looking in a mirror when they look at each other.

Just thought it was weird that they never appeared.
