I think it's pretty simple. It's not funny to watch someone helpless get beat upon. It's not a gender issue (well maybe to some it is) but simply a question of whether it seems like an act of cruelty or just something silly. If a guy was beating on a helpless girl, screaming for her life, that's not funny. but I laughed my ass off when Woody Harrelson punched the crap out of the girls boobs in Kingpin (granted, she does win in the end). Not to mention, in these movies, nobody really gets hurt, and these guys are known for their physical comedy. I don't know, it's not a double standard or bad in my opinion. As someone said before, I think we'd all laugh if the tables were turned and Rob Schneider was beating on Kathy Lee Gifford.

You've made no point. You mention a double standard that you find hypocritical and displeasing, but you don't mention what the double standard is.

As has already been said, "girl hitting guy" is funny. "Guy hitting girl" is cruel. In this case, you are comparing two different things and naturally they'd have different standards.

If you want to dispute that, and say that "girl hitting guy" is equally cruel, or "guy hitting girl" is equally funny, you would have a point. But since you agree with it, with us, and with the media, you are in no position to expect them to have higher standards than your own.

You are not only being hypocritical when you feel "girl hitting guy" is funny while "guy hitting girl" is cruel, but you are again hypocritcal when you tell us that we aren't allowed to feel the same way.

Hmmmmmm...I guess you may have a point. Let me wrap my brain around it a bit more, though.

I think it would be funny if Rob Schneider was hitting Barrymore with a bat. And then he went down the road and start hitting Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu proclaiming "That's for the 2 hours you stole from me!"

Since its a COMEDY, its probably funnier to see the one considered STRONGER getting beaten...not mant comedies with a wimpy man getting savagly beaten by a pro football player.

"Pretty fly for a white guy" was a white band making fun of wiggers.

It seemed like the previews for this movie gives away all the funny parts of the movie.
