Best Film of the 70s, 80s & 90s?

Drawing inspiration from the Best film of 2000s thread, I thought it might be fun to name what each of us thought were the best films of the past three complete decades: 1970s, 80s & 90s. Please don't come up with three separate lists. Just pick one film from each decade that you thought to be the best. Here are my choices:

1970s: "Annie Hall"
1980s: "Blue Velvet"
1990s: "Pulp Fiction"

What's the difference? If you thought a film was the best of a particular year, isn't that the same as saying it was also your favorite. Every film I listed for each decade was the one I enjoyed most, thus, in my mind, making it the best.

And I know I'm gonna probably get a lot of flack for picking "Annie Hall" over "The Godfather," but I stand by my pick. In fact, "Annie Hall" is my favorite film of all time.

Well if Best Film indeed does equal Favorite Film I wont post mine. People have in mind what the best are already. If you differ from those you get responses like "Yeah _____ is so much better than Raging Bull "

I'd argue that there is a difference between "best" and "favorite."

My favorite movie is The Crow. Do I really think it's a better picture than The Godfather (or, well, tons of films)? No, not really.

OMG!!! I completely forgot about "Pulp Fiction." I will now go back and omit "Silence of the Lambs" and insert "Pulp Fiction" as Best Film of the 90s. I can't believe I overlooked it.

My regular movie watching didn't start until early 70s. I just haven't seen nearly as many films before that period to accurately name the best of those earlier decades. Although I will commit to saying that "Citizen Kane" is my choice as Best Film of the first half of the century.

Please let's not over-complicate this. Don't add all this gray matter. No one seemed to have a problem with this in the Best of 2000s thread. We're not talking about Best-Made or Best-Assembled.
