The trailer might have not been complete crap if they had used some updated CGI. Looks like someone just got some photoshop software and pasted a baby's head on a dancing body. They could have at least put a damn mask on the baby just for sh*ts and giggles.

There has got to be nothing more loathed than a dancing baby or a talking dog (except maybe a talking dancing baby). Bring on the breakdancin' puppies!

I hope the baby looks better in the movie. Not that I'd watch it. Yuck.

As the harshest critic of CGI you will ever meet, I have to chime in and say that from a technical standoint, the baby is not that bad. It's actually rather good.

It's funny. Last year New Line premeired the first Dumb and Dumberer teaser on Two Towers and now they debut The Mask teaser on Return of the King. What is it about putting these now Jim Carry-less previews on GOOD movies. Shouldn't this trailer have it's debut with something else?

I don't really want to defend the trailer, but it is explained. The narrator says that the baby inheirited the powers (presumably it's the kid of Jim Carrey's character in the first film).

There wasn't any booing when this played before ROTK at my local theater, but there was a lot of groaning and widespread looks upon people's faces that just screamed "What in the blue hell was that?" It was painfully bad, especially when they suggested that I had been dying to see a sequel to this movie. That was worse than the horrible CGI on the silly dancing baby--well, almost.

There was no booing at my showing, but there was a definite "what the ****?" vibe throughout the theater.

In the comic that "The MAsk" was based upon, anybody who wore the maks would turn into the Mask. I don't know why they need to have Carrey's character have a kid!

And as for "Dumb and Dumberer"... sadly it turned a profit.

That makes less than no sense. It was clear from the film that only people who WEAR the mask could get the mask's power. Otherwise, you'd have people from Nordic times born with dancing-baby powers. You'd also have tons of dogs running around, unkillable, from when the dog wears it. This is bullsh*t of the lowest kind possible.

The Mask 2: Maskless? What's the point?

What I would like to see is a film that sticks more closely to the original comic: crude, gory, with the humor being of the darkest form possible. And bring back Walter!

I thought people were going to start shooting at the screen at the NYC theater I saw it at. After the trailer ended, there was this long collective boo from the entire audience. I hadn't seen people that united in hatred since new coke.

Exactly. That's my argument. The baby's face wasn't even green let alone the fact that he wasn't wearing the Mask.

Well, the last time there was so much hate towards a movie trailer it was The Hulk and that movie went on to make over a $100 million.

I don't remeber such vehement hatred towards The Hulk, and besides, The Hulk had a lot of things going for it: An internationally acclaimed director, an academy award winning actress, an up and coming actor with a lot of hype, and it's based on a major Marvel comic in the middle of the comic craze. The Mask 2 has...a dancing baby. It's not even, as far as I can tell, based on The Mask Returns.

According to Quicktime, it stars "Jamie Jennedy"! I love that guy.
