So are you getting ROTK or waiting for the EE?
I know this isn't the DVDTalk section, but I figured this is where the topic goes. Either way, are people here gonna pick up the ROTK DVD or wait for the EE, assuming it follows the same schedule and is released in Nov., several months after the normal version.
I enjoyed ROTK so much I may have to pick up the theatrical version before the EE just to have it to watch.

I'm going to let New Line take my money twice again...how could I not be a completist.
Based on the feature's length and the compression issues, I think even the theatrical 2-disc version will have some of the feature split off on disc 2, with the extras sharing the rest of the space. I hope they find a good place to break if they do this.

Well, I just hope the EE will be out before November 2004. Damn that's a long time to wait.

Probably just the EE, but the temptation will be tough if the wait is November.
I did hold off on the theatrical Two Towers and only got the EE of that, so we'll see.

Definitely both.
I can get the theatrical edition for about $7-$8 through CH. Plus with the $5 rebate, it'll only be the cost of a rental and this movie was just tooooooooo dope to wait 4 months for.
As others have said, the extras will be different and as a completionist, I need to own the theatrical and extended version of all of them.

I have both of the 1st 2 movies, so I am sure I will buy both of "King".
I do not consider it double dipping, 2 different movies and different extras.
And if anyone wants to borrow one of the movies, I only let them borrow the "Non EE".

I only have the theatrical versions, I've never seen any of the EEs. I'm gonna wait, because I'm sure in a while they will put out a whole trilogy EE set with prolly even more extra stuff in a super cool case and all that stuff. So I'm just waiting for that to eventually come out.

I'll do both. The $10 back from the EE giftset for getting the theatrical will be more than the ~$8 I'll spend at CHouse for it.
I have theatrica and giftset already for FOTR and TTT. Since I won't be watching ROTK until the EE is released (so I can watch the theatrical and EE back to back) I won't be getting the Nat'l Geog DVD now (isn't there a chance it'll be in the giftset?).

Just the EE.
I have no desire to see the theatrical cuts for FOTR or TTT again, and I'm sure it'll be the same for ROTK.
I'll rent the theatrical version to check out the extras that I'd only watch once anyway.

I do so hope they do not wait till november for the final releases.
I always assumed the first two took so long to be released on dvd just for the sake of tying in with the upcoming theatrical release. Since there is no more movie...I don't see what they'd have to gain by waiting so long.
Strike while the iron is hot...
