Post your favorite LORT quotes
Lord of the rings has many good quotes, and i find it hard to believe how the hell tolkien got so many of them like 50 years ago
Post movie or book
Ride now, ride for ruin, and the world is ending!
Oh and a really nice scene I like in the book the scouring of the shire the 4 hobbits found out saruman was responsible for it and when they confront him he enjoys seeing the hobbits suffer
They all want to kill him but frodo lets him go, says cannot pay revenge with revenge.
As saruman is leaving he tries to slain frodo, sam instantly leading a dozen hobbits to kill him
Frodo says:
No sam!, Do not kill him even now. For he has not hurt me. And in any case I do not wish him to be slain in this evil mood. He was great once, of a noble kind we should not dare raise our hands against. He is fallen, and his cure is beyond us; but I would still spare him, in the hope that he may find it.
Saruman replies confused and with a look of respect: You have grown Halfling, yes you have grown very much. You have robbed me my revenge of sweetness... I go and will trouble you no more.
Then grima snaps and kills him and hobbits kill grima with arrows
I dont know why but i really like this part

Sam: (to Gollum) "What are we up to? Sneaking off, are we?"
Gollum: "Sneaking? Fat Hobbit is always so polite. Smeagol shows them secret ways that nobody else could find and they say "sneak", "Sneak!" Very nice friends, oh yes, my precious, very nice."
Sam: "Alright, alright. You startled me was all. What were you doing?"
Gollum: "Sneaking"

Sam: It's like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger, they were. And sometimes, you didn't want to know the ending, because how could the ending be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it's only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass, a new day will come. And when the sun shines, it will shine out the clearer. Those are the stories that stay with you, that meant something. Even if you were too small to understand why. But I think Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now. Folk in those stories, had lots of chances of turning back, only they didn't. They kept going, because they were holding on to something.
Frodo: What are we holding on to Sam?
Sam: That there's some good in this world, Mr. Frodo, and it's worth fighting for.

I personally don't find the LOTR movies "quotable". Even now, I have to think about it...nothing. No surprise I guess since I didn't like the books.
However, Boromir's "They have a cave troll" line has always stuck with me since Fellowship, for some reason.

"My, what lovely ears you have. I could hang my sword, belt, and leather vest on them." Aragon to his elf love.

"Where is the horse and the rider..."
"Your love of the halfling leaf has clearly slowed your mind."
"That only counts as one!"
"What's this? A Ranger caught off his guard?"
"Whatever comes through this door, you are soldiers of Gondor, and you will fight!"
"...wielder of the flame of Anor. you cannot pass!"
and many more...

"Let this be the hour when we draw swords together!"
"He will come to death an image of the splendor of the kings of Men in glory undimmed before the breaking of the world."
My favorite is probably "My friends, you bow to noone". I get tears in my eyes just thinking about that scene.

Frodo: Its a pity Bilbo didnt kill him (Gollum) when he had the chance
Gandalf: Pity....it was pity that stayed Bilbo's hand. There are some that are dead that deserve life, some that live deserve death....can you give it to them? Do not be to quick to deal out death and judgment"

Gimli and Legolas right before the battle at the black gate:
"I never thought I'd die fighting next to an elf."
"What about dieing fighting next to a friend?"
"Aye. I could do that."
Powerful stuff.

My favorite quote will hopefully be restored to the Extended cut. I dont know it verbatim, but the gist of it I believe involves Sauron's First Lieutenant coming onto the battlefield to meet either Aragorn or Gandalf (probably the former). The Lieutenant tells Aragorn that Mordor has the halflings, presents one of Frodo's articles of clothing as proof, and offers him their safe return in exchange for their unconditional surrender and most of their lands. To this Aragorn (I assume) gives the lieutenant the literary equivalent of the finger and at that point you know the armies are ready to "get it on!"
