I just watched this documentary and found it confusing, maddening and heartbreaking. Knowing that it's a few years old I was trying to find some updated info on the little girl who's parents wouldn't let her get the operation. I looked online a bit and came up empty. Anyone know anything about this?

I recently met and chatted with Nita Artinian, Heather's mother from the Academy Award nominated "Sound and Fury" documentary. You may remember that the extended
Artinian family were in dispute about letting young Heather undergo cochlear implant surgery.

Nita proudly shared with me that she and her two children have all received cochlear implants. Her daughter Heather is doing so well with hers that she is able to hear and talk on the telephone. Nita, who primarily uses sign language, is able to hear sounds with her cochlear implant which was just activated 3
weeks ago and is optimistic about her future with hearing.
