Dots, Dots, Mpaa Dots Everywhere!!!! Help Me

Ok I know I posted this elsewhere, but I have to say I hate those Freaking MPAA DOTS. While I wouldnt go as far as to say they ruin the movie going experience, they really irritate me when they come up, and I notice them all the time now!

Am I alone on this?

How exactly do these dots thwart bootleggers anyway?

The placement and colors of the dots allow the distributors to figure out which print was used to make to illegals. And yeah, those dots are really annoying. Kill Bill was the most noticeable.

i've seen them, but are they that annoying that it takes away from the experience of the movie? It doesn't for me, anyway.

They only bothered me in Kill Bill, because they caused me to look up into the corner several times during the film, but i still look at the cigarette burns on the right side also.

They were mildly annoying in Kill Bill and LOTR:FOTR:EE, but in Master & Commander they definitely ruined some scenes for me.

I bet if I never read about them and what they were for I wouldn't have noticed them. But I have and I do, and I abhorr this. I think they make about as much sense as manufactorers releasing broken products to deterr shoplifters.

what dots? I've seen all the movies mentioned in the theater and I never saw any dots anywhere, but then I'm too busy watching the movie to look for dots anyway

When I saw the sneak preview of The Last Samurai, there were absolutely no dots. I know since I was sitting in the third row.

But, when I saw it again last weekend, I saw at least one set of dots.

The dots in Finding Nemo DLP were the worst I had ever seen!

Fellowship of the Ring: EE was really bad, especially during the Galadriel mirror scene, in which I noticed at least 10 flashes alone!!!!

Yeah, the FOTR:EE got loaded up in that one reel with Galadriel. But it was only one reel's worth of dots.

I saw, noticed, and was distracted by them in Kill Bill before I even knew what they were. I read around here afterward to find out what it was.

VERY rarely will I bother to see a film in the theater anymore, and this is one of the reasons.

I thought the dots in Kill Bill were annoying, but considering there was so much blood already I didn't mind terribly. However, with Master and Commander, I was absolutely furious. The movie is so grey and with all of those dots coming up every few scenes I was mad. I hope this new copyright policy is shortlived. Really, what are they thinking? They are angering the people who pay good hard earned money to see the film in the theater. If they keep it up, maybe those people wont be shelling out money to see it in the theater anymore thus defeating their whole purpose.

Dots??? I haven't noticed no stinkin' dots!

Well, the last movie I saw in the theater was The Last Samurai, but I didn't notice any dots. I didn't see them in Finding Nemo either.

thank god they dotted up the lotr fotr:ee showings. fotr:ee shaky low light crooked cam bootlegs with spotty sound are so much more in demand these days over an actual rip from the dvd.

it would have been utter madness if not for those dots.

Last time I saw the crap code was when I went to see Kill Bill. I hope they are absent during Return of the King, I won't hold my breath though.

I saw this yesterday in the theaters (which was pretty sweet - it's nice to see something in a quiet theater where everyone was respectful to each other) and was angered during those scenes. The worse was when this series of red dots that formed a "T" shape showed up during the closeup of Galadriel's (sp?) eyes.

And slightly off topic - during my showing there were no trailers or ads of any kind. Just started right into the movie. It was one of the best movie experiences I've had in the last three years in a theater. (and a great film to boot!)

So far the only movie I've noticed them in was Elf. Didn't see them at all in Kill Bill, and I'm not sure if Last Samurai had them or not, but I didn't notice them (last 3 movies I saw...I think)

I have no idea what those dots are. Is this a new thing? Or are they those large colored circles that appear for a frame or two. I always thought that was some kind of refraction from dust.
