I spent an entire afternoon reading through half of this....
http://www.geekroar.com/film/archives/000428.php

I liked rushmore's comment.
I thought the ending was a bit of a cop out.
They got so ahead of themselves, they couldn't figure a good way to end it, so they fed us what they fed us.

The architect and the oracle talk about "this peace...", "how long do you think thsi peace will last...." blah blah blah...

It'll last until the machines decide it's been long enough, or enough humans have been "set free" (to a crapola world)! They still have 100% of the power. And now w/ no more anomolies to worry about, there's no more chance of another Smith, who turned out to be the only real threat to the machines anyway!!!

crap crap crap crap crap....
it pisses me off that this "trilogy" has gotten me so good, like when a jerkoff friend gives you an unsolvable riddle but keeps the fact that it's unsolvable to himself....

crap i tell ya!!! aarrggghhh!!!!!

Has anyone come up with a better resolution. Granted I may be in the minority in actually liking the direction they took the story. I fault some of the filmmaking for being a bit more convuluted than necessary, but storywise I think they took it the best place possible.

But since so many people hate the ending, anyone have any ideas for resolutions that would be better? I'd love to hear what you detractors can come with.

Hey, I'd just be happy if they refunded my money for the tickets.

alternate ending
Neo is confronted by Smith, Smith tells him that there is a reality beneath this reality and offers Neo a green pill.Neo pops the pill and all of a sudden he wakes up in a movie theater watching a really crappy movie, and decides to leave.... the audience cheers Neos action!

I love it when The Matrix fans try desperately to convince everybody else about the DEEP meaning behind the series of films, like none of us could understand what was going on until it was explained to us by them. And somehow, then we would discover in some brilliant epiphany how cool these movies really were. Yeah right.

Maybe they need a reality pill.
Thanks for the threadcrap!

what am i not getting?
looking at all 3 films as a whole, there are basically 2 possibilities.

1) that ALL free people outside the matrix will be killed by the machines and those inside will have NO hope of being freed.

2) that the free people outside the matrix + those who want to be free in the matrix will live / be free.

#2 is clearly victory for mankind even if lots of peeps are still enslaved by the matrix.... and in the end, they WANT to be enslaved which is pretty much up to the individual... so one could say that all of mankind was freed, but some chose to livein the matrix for whatever reasons. Im sure if I was a billionaire in the matrix, with a harem of groupies, I'd stay there too.

at any rate, none of this makes film one "pointless", because without Neo being freed, we'd be looking at plan 1... which would be a baaad thing for humans everywhere.

What changed over the course of the films was their intentions. They realized that destroying machines wasnt the awnser and that they had to compromise.

Something came to me last night. If Neo is the anomaly then technically he should have been deleted after he destroyed agent smith in the first movie. He is the only anomaly since agent smith doesn't become a rogue program until after he gets destroyed by neo.

So you're the Oracle now and you can see the future? There is some deeper stuff in the movies as we're explaining in this thread, if you choose to look for it. Otherwise, you can let yourself hate the movie if you want. But don't insult people who like the Matrix just because you don't care.
