I never thought I'd say this, being (as far as I know) the harshest critic of Tim Burton's foul regurgitation of Batman and bored to [fecies] by Aliens, but you can’t feel shame in what you like or don’t like. I know this is an old theme here at opinion central, but HEY!: it bears repeating.

in other words: [SLANG FOR FORNICATE] critics!!!!!!!!!!

Easily one of the very best films of the 1990s.

No doubt you suffer from a very limited acquiantance.

I think that it got a "jerk" reaction, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't knee . . .

I remember reading that Roger Ebert didn't give Gladiator a particuarly great review but it still ended up on his 10 best list at the end of that year.

It was not on his 10 Best List. In fact, right before the Oscars he said that if it won best picture it would be the worst film to have ever done so.

Yep, I remember hearing this over and over from critics..."The sets were great! But the story was not that good"

Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake got a 37% on RT and people seemed to really like it.
Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star got 20% on RT but I liked it and if I did, then there must be others... right?
Timeline currently has an 11%, but I bet people will like that.
Gothika is doing pretty well for a movie with a 16% on RT.
Ace Ventura - pt 1 - 30% - pt 2 - 13%
Adventures of Ford Fairlane - 18%
Another 48 Hours - 8%
Airheads - 8%
Idle Hands - 17% (loved that movie)
Lost and Found - 12% (I see a trend for David Spade movies)
Here's a good one - Four Rooms - 18%
Vegas Vacation - 11%
Universal Soldier - 14%
Financially speaking - Home Alone 2 - 14% - and didn't that make like a trillion dollars?
Knock Off starring Van Damme got a 0% and it was directed by one of the most talented directors ever to come out of HK. (I'm alone in liking this film I'm sure)
Phantoms got a 0% - Affleck was the BOMB in Phantoms!
Empire Records got an 8% - Loved it
Bulletproof got a 0%
Half-Baked - 9%
Fair Game - 7%
Drop Dead Fred - 0% - one of my all-time favorite films.
Every movie with Pauly Shore got a 0% - but I liked some of them... must just be me.

So yeah - there's quite a few movies that were panned that alot of people like - that's just a quick skim of the 90s and a few recent ones. Oh - and before you try out that witty joke about my movie tastes and how some or all these movies suck, just know that I won't think it's funny. Everyone has different tastes and I picked movies that I and people I know like.

Man On The Moon - Critics loved it, fans... not so much. Even though I did, everyone else I know didn't.
Most Jim Carrey movies are the opposite with fans loving them and critics hating them.

I also agree that the majority of critics hate Adam Sandler and his movies, but he has a pretty big audience, including me, and his movies continue to make a ton of money.
...Punch-Dunk Love is an exception to this, the opposite in fact.

I no longer like you. You trashed two of my favorite movie's.

Have to agree though. Screw the critics. You like what you like. I can't stand any of the Matrix movie's, most Criterion movie's and the list goes on and on. But - some people do like them and that is fine.

Obviously EVERY film, no matter how bad, will have somebody who likes it. But I thought the point was to find movies that most critics trashed but most audiences lauded (and vice versa).

I've actually never seen it myself. I was told by everyone I've talked to that it put them to sleep.

He may of and if so I agree with him. I hate to say it, but Spider-Man ranks up there with X-men as two of the worst modern comic book movie's.

Current examples: Critics hate Cat in the Hat, but it's doing major B.O. ;typical for family films during the holidays I might add.
Master and Commander: critics are hailing it, and I like it as well. Most audiences don't seem to care for it though. They all wanted a Gladiator on the high seas. (Which the previews tried to make it)

Word of mouth is TERRIBLE on the film. A lot of people were interested in seeing it opening weekend, but they aren't coming back happy. Let's wait and see how the movie tracks this weekend.

The origin story is well told, and the characters will not disappoint anyone who values the original comic books. It's in the action scenes that things fall apart."

Babe: A Pig in the City has only a 59% at rottentomatoes. I thought it was a great movie and so did many others.

I guess I have a completely opposite opinion. I think they were two of the best examples (along with the first Batman and the 1st Superman).

it made over $10 million on Friday, which is less than 1 million from when it opened. Of course this is a holiday weekend and all, but it seems to be doing reasonably well.
