Oh please! I think Serkis did a great job with the voice of Gollum. But for the mo-cap, he put on a frickin' suit with ping pong balls on it and moved the way Jackson told him to. It didn't take a lot of skill, I don't care what anyone says. Everyday people were doing this stuff years before anyone knew who Andy Serkis was. It's been done in the gaming industry for years, and even in numerous movies before LOTR was made.
It took no talent from Serkis to do that, whatsoever. You could have done it, as long as you have two good ears and can follow directions. Let's not make more of this than it is.
WETA deserves credit for creating Gollum. Serkis deserves credit for the voice acting.

And it does not surprise me that Serkis could be involved in acting the part of Kong. Part of acting is study and mimicry and Serkis excels at both.

Watch the Gollum Documentary on disc 3 of TTT:EE, and see how much of Serkis was used to inspire the gollum animation.

Yeah, just watch the little featurette which shows one of the producers acting as Serkis's stand-in. Contrast his lumbering, inept movements to Serkis's, and you'll see exactly what having a proper movement actor added.
(The doc also shows that not everything about Gollum was mo-capped: quite a lot of traditional animation went into him as well.)
