I don't think I could narrow it down. Some of the Transformers. Hal. Data.

I suppose the Star Wars robots will also be eliminated as options, as they are technically "droids" - not "robots" if there is a difference...oh wait, no it was just a dwarf in a trash can - doesn't count!

1) Data
Yes, while Data is an android, he also falls under the classification of a robot.
Marriam-Webster's dictionary has three definitions for a robot, the first being:
"1a : a machine that looks like a human being and performs various complex acts (as walking or talking) of a human being; also : a similar but fictional machine whose lack of capacity for human emotions is often emphasized b : an efficient insensitive person who functions automatically"
Wow, 1a definitely sounds like Data.
Who woulda thought?
Perhaps we should look at the definition of android?
Same dictionary: Android: ": a mobile robot usually with a human form."
Well, it appears that Data is indeed a robot.
2) HAL
I would further submit that HAL does indeed fall under the category of being a robot.
As proof of this, I will point to the Robot Hall of Fame (www.robothalloffame.org), which was established by the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University in 2003.
To this date, they have a total of 4 inductees: Mars Pathfinder Sojourner Rover, R2-D2, Unimate, and HAL 9000.
From their page about HAL 9000 (http://www.robothalloffame.org/hal.html):
"As the brain of the spaceship Discovery, HAL is a robot that uses the mechanical, sensing, and information systems under its control."
If it is good enough for the Robot Hall of Fame, then it is good enough to be one of my favorite robots.
Good god. I just realized how ridiculous/geeky this is, defending my position on why I like two robots.
Nonethless...my original post still stands!

Although muggins, I am glad to see you have come to the conclusion that the only thing geekier about voting for your favourite robot in an online forum, is debating the specific classes these robots fall under, and their eligibility for entry...

I hope my previous vote for Yul Brynner still qualifies?!

That's Awesome! Kudos to you, The Bus.
Here's my favorite. Tachikoma! (So what if they weren't in either movie. They're still from that universe.
