First X-3 then Wolverine Spin-off?

The Sydney Morning Herald talked to Lauren Shuler Donner about the X-Men franchise and she has some very good news for the fans.
According to the producer, they are developing X-Men 3 and plan to follow it up with a Wolverine spin-off movie, with Jackman starring in both.
"The ideal thing will be to do Wolverine after X-Men 3 and that's what we plan to do," Shuler Donner said. "We'll probably develop Wolverine at the same time, but we'll do X-3 then we'll do Wolverine."
And all the fans gather to do a collective cheer of YES!.

Do you think Bryan Singer would follow the project? After X2 I l've become a fan of what he's done, so it'd be awesome if he did wolverine. But as often is the case a new person might helm. I wonder who'd be good for that...hmmm.

Definitely can't complain about this.
I doubt we will see Singer even helm X-3, let alone the Wolverine spin-off, but if he decides to stick around (or if the producer's decide to keep him on) that will be good news none the less.

works for me...as long as they don't make a Storm movie..
and then change the character's name..
and then say "We believe there are more than one Storms"..
and then make her wear a trashy S&M suit that ANY self-respecting S&M fetishist wouldn't be caught dead in..

sounds good to me. Certainly the best part of the X-men flicks, besides Ian and Patrick.

I disagree. Hugh -IS- Wolverine. My only criticism is that they coulda made him look a bit older like Logan is in the comics.
However, I know their target audience is the "Dawson' Creek" crowd

Seriously, we could nitpick away, but why bother? Hugh's a badass Wolfie.

Singer and Arad responds to the quote above:
The Sydney Morning Herald also talked with Producer Lauren-Schuler Donner today (this girl gets around) about local boy made good Hugh Jackman and his role as Wolverine in the "X-Men" movies and a potential spin-off movie based around the character: "The ideal thing will be to do Wolverine after X-Men 3 and that's what we plan to do. We'll probably develop Wolverine at the same time, but we'll do X-3 then we'll do Wolverine". Before X-Menites get too excited though, the project isn't moving forward as fast as she's indicating. About.Com spoke with both Marvel chief Avi Arad & Director Bryan Singer at the "Master & Commander" premiere and both seem very surprised by the comments: A stunned Singer said "Well, if she told you we are prepping, we must be prepping. Uh, great! Awesome. I don't think I can talk about it, but I’d like to [make X3] very much, so we’ll see if we can work it out. I think an X-men film is simultaneously a Wolverine film, so in my opinion that’s something that might happen afterwards, but ultimately I can’t even talk about it". Arad meanwhile said "I think that both concepts are valid and both will be made". The Marvel man also briefly touched upon "Fantastic Four" - "Everything will come out soon. We are looking at new directors" and spoke about other Marvel projects here. Thanks to 'Fred'.
