The Matrix Replacements

If you had to recast the Matrix who would be good replacements.
Morpheus: Sam Jackson
Trinity: Gina Gershon
The Architect: Sean Connery
Agent Smith: nobody comes close unless Im missing someone
The Oracle: Angela Basset
Who else?

chess 11-08-03 05:58 PM

Neo: Christian Bale

Trinity: Ziyi Zhang...i'm certain about this one

Morpheus or maybe the architect...depending on how you think about it: Patrick Stewart (can make virtually any dialogue sound good.)

That said, I think the casting was inspired...especially hugo weaving.

Trigger 11-08-03 06:10 PM

Casting was fine as it was... they shouldn't have let Morpheus get fat and they shouldn't have had Keanu play Neo so stiff in part 2. They also shouldn't have had Trinity do that same kick and cartwheel in every movie...

I probably would've cast Giovanni Ribisi in there somewhere... but not as one of the main core castmembers. I also don't like Jada Pinket Smith, so I would've cast someone else... and NOT halle berry.

I also would've cast myself in the orgy scenes. ;)

Jackskeleton 11-08-03 06:22 PM

Agree with trigger, the casting was fine as it was.

chess 11-08-03 06:47 PM

don't get me wrong, i agree as well...just thought i'd play...in the spirit of the thread and all.

and i don't really need an excuse to post links to the smoking hot (and badass) Ziyi Zhang.

FLEXIBLE INDEED!

kenny79 11-08-03 06:55 PM

Persephone: Estelle Getty

gmal2003 11-08-03 07:02 PM

i agree that the casting was fine as it was as none of my replacements are better than the real ones IMO. just thought it would be interesting to see others interpretation of the characters. (ex. I never thought about Patrick Stewart but he wouldve worked as either)

RyoHazuki 11-08-03 07:05 PM

Your right about Agent Smith. No one can touch Hugo. That guy is the phattus apparatus.

She is hot but if I recall from the Rush Hour 2 extras she speaks next to no English correct? I could be wrong since I watched that stuff a good while ago.

She would of been great eye candy for The Matrix films but I'd rather look at her than the translation of what she is saying at the bottom of the screen. :)

Michael Corvin 11-08-03 11:53 PM

I loved the characters of the twins but think the actors were way too stiff. Not sure who would be a good replacement though.

ahem.. there would be no worthy replacement for Ms. Bellucci.

Feel free to post pics. :)

When you mentioned "the twins" I thought you were talking about her twins...

as for pics - if you bring her up, you gotta post the pics man. party foul

hmmm...can't say for certain, but i know at the very least that she did her own dub for CTHD. She could have just as easily cleaned up her dialect in the looping sessions.

i'm not really advocating that she should have been trinity, just saying that it could have been interesting given the following facts:

1. can act pretty damn well as evidenced by CTHD
2. could have held her own against anybody in regards to kung fu
3. is prettier than Neo, which i'm not sure i can say for carrie...but that's subjective
4. would have fit better into the multicultural angle of the cast
5. did i mention that she is smoking hot?

drunkrob 11-09-03 12:39 PM

Anyone who can do 1/2 decent fight scenes to replace Keanu as Neo. He really sucked in that department.

The Matrix Club

Directed by John Hughes

Neo: Anthony Michael Hall
Trinity: Molly Ringwald
Agent Smith: Paul Gleason
Morpheus: Emilio Estevez
Dozer: Judd Nelson
The Oracle: Ally Sheedy

sq240 11-09-03 04:46 PM

I think Christian Bale would have made a great Neo.. That would be the only thing I would change with the cast.

I didn't care for Jada Smith, but I cannot think of anyone else to replace her with.

Drexl 11-09-03 05:27 PM

Quentin Tarantino's The Matrix:

Neo: Tim Roth
Trinity: Uma Thurman
Morpheus: Samuel L. Jackson
Agent Smith: Christopher Walken
The Architect: Harvey Keitel
The Oracle: Pam Grier
Niobe: Lucy Liu
Commander Lock: Ving Rhames
The Twins: John Travolta
The Keymaker: Sonny Chiba

Fur Q 11-09-03 10:49 PM

it's a real shame Brad Pitt and (later) Leo Di Caprio turned down the Neo role. This movies would really have benefitted from having a real actor in the lead role.
the rest of the casting was good, but would have preferred a younger lady in the Trinity role. CAM looked like Neo's mother in the sequels!!

actors who could not have been bettered by replacement:

Gloria Foster (really missed in M3)
Hugo Weaving
Monica Belucci
Lambert Wilson .... aka The Merovingian

they were all perfect for their parts (and all their parts were perfect!)

RyoHazuki 11-09-03 11:43 PM

Yeah Monica Belucci is irreplacable. A sock on the end of a broom could have done her part.
