Best way to describe it: A Pretty OK book makes a pretty OK movie. Nothing amazing, nothing awful (aside from maybe Paul Walker). It kept my interest, had some good moments, had some weak moments but wasn't as bad as many films I've seen this year.

The biggest highlight of the film is: Gerard Butler who absolutely steals the show. He puts in a performance that shows you can be a great actor even in a mediocre film. The scenes with him and Anna Friel are some of the best of the movie.

Also I do hear Prey is in development, the gross take of Timeline will probably heat that up or cool it off. It's another OK book, nothing amazing but certainly not awful. I still think someone should make a movie out of Richard R Preston's The Hot Zone or Deamon in the Freezer both better than Prey.

I agree Gerard Butler is 'the' character of the film. Paul Walker's character and acting ability was just wallpaper compared to Gerard. Gerard did this also in the "Tomb Raider" sequel. Can't wait to hear him sing as the Phantom in next year's "Phantom of the Opera"

Getting back to "Timeline". The dialogue was also a groaner. As a described 'popcorn film', all I wanted to do was throw my popcorn at the screen.

I rather enjoyed it, just fluff entertainment but I was entertained at least. And this is the first movie I can think of where the changes from book to movie actually improved the final product IMO.

Saw this this afternoon and was completely underwhelmed. IMO, this was complete garbage. I read the book (and was not impressed), so that is basically the only reason I chose to go see the movie.

First off, the story was nothing to write home about. Secondly, I am amazed at how poorly Richard Donner handled the material. I expected much more from a seasoned veteran like him.

I will be renting the DVD because my wife is reading the book and wants to see it.

The trailer looked like a made for TV movie to me.

It is so average. Everything about reeks of average. It wasn't confoundingly bad, but it wasn't good either. I think they rushed the story, but that doesn't mean I wanted it to be longer (at the quality is was at). It could have been much better.

I really wish they had the jousting scene.

The wonder and amazement of the book wasn't there like it was for Jurassic Park.

They didn't explain anything about the time machines like Crichton did in the book. Just, here they are, accept that they exist

I'm sorry, but my friends and I ended up laughing at pretty much everything that Paul Walker said, including "we've gotta get out of here," which is uttered by him at least eight times I'd say. I would go and rewatch the film just to see how many times he says it, or else turn the quote into a new drinking game.

I could not find an Imprint Blu thread in hd talk, so if is one mod please feel free to move, but I searched in hd and international talk.

So is this a decent movie? Know it got wrecked in reviews critically and mostly here too and BO believe, but I like Walker, Crichton, Donner.

Saw the Imprint Blu from Australia has nice somewhat short extras. Bad transfer but audio good and Blu-ray.com said movie itself was 4/5.

Wondering if worth it. Thx.

It’s a fun novel directed by a very competent director, starring a great cast. All the pieces are there for it to be a really awesome movie. Unfortunately it’s not. I don’t think I’ve seen this since it was originally released and maybe it’s aged well but it’s a severely underwhelming, forgettable movie.

And I’m a huge Crichton fan.

Really fun book, the movie captures the main stuff but feels a bit lacking from what the book offered. Oh yeah, the level of violence. The book is crazy violent, but as with most things Donner, they really held back. I did like the movie though, cast was fun to see. It is available on iTunes for $4.99, but it’s Paramount so it’s not MA. I’d go with that since there have never been any releases that have any substantial extras.

According to the IMDB the movie is in post production. I'm kind of surprised that there has been no news about it. Apparently it is slated for a July release. We should be seeing previews by now. With a pretty substantial budget (80 mil) you would think that the marketing wheel would have been churning by now.

Richard Donner was the director. of superman and lethal weapon fame. I don't know about him. He did great in those but it seems like he might take a formulatic action summer flick approach.

The cast really looks the part.

This movie really does have the potential to be a serious scifiish film and epic timepiece in one but that is probably too much to ask for.

OMG I started this thread over 18 years ago?! This thread can vote, buy cigarettes vape, and pose nude in Playboy Only Fans.

The only thing I remember is a group of people time travel to medieval Europe and a bunch of them get killed. And I remember that more from the book then the movie. I just watched the trailer and have zero recollection of the movie. I'm glad I started rating everything on IMDB 20 years ago so at least I have some evidence that I saw this movie. I gave it 6/10 stars :D
