Anything special planned for 50th anniversary of Godzilla?

I have heard rumors of Godzilla vs. Gamera.Since they are from rival companies I doubt that it would happen.

The very latest rumours for next year's film actually mention Godzilla vs. ....Godzilla. In other words, he is supposed to fight his clone. Of course this is still speculation at this point, but I could see Toho doing something kinda lame like that.

I personally thought that the Godzilla/Gamera thing would be very cool if Toho and Daiei could have worked it out. Oh well, maybe for Gammy's 40th anniversary in 2005.

DC and Marvel got together in the late 70's and made some crossover comics so maybe anything is possible(talking about Godzilla vs Gamera).

Oh sure, go and ruin the premiere of his latest film scheduled for November 3rd.

And why are you talking like he's dead? (err, not that I think he's real or anything. You know what I mean )

After watching Godzilla 2000 again and listening to the commentary I've concluded neither the Japanese nor the Americans repsect Godzilla enough to really do a good movie. Everything is done half assed because according to the commentary guy..."Godzilla mostly appeals to children". Huh? This is news to me. I mean I've allways known TOHO treated "G" like a retarded step child in terms of doing a good job on the films and even how keep such a tight reign on the porperty as far as other studios making "G" films.

I suppose what I'm saying is if no one can do Godzilla movies with the respect they deserve then don't bother making anymore...even for the 50th B-day.

Yes. I will play Blue Oyster Cult's "Go Go Godzilla" really loud. Perhaps TWICE, if I'm feelin' a little dangerous.

50 years of Godzilla and we still don't have a R1 DVD release of the original "Gojira" film.

BTW you can check out the trailer for the upcoming Toho Godzilla film at this link:

I was going to make a crack about the constant crapping on R1 DVD buyers, but that just pwns it all.
