Films that take place in the same "Universe" but aren't sequels

I was thinking about this ever since I seen Jay & Silent Bob in Scream 3. How many movies have cameoes or just some weird thing that connects it to another film, but it's nat a direct sequel. I don't mean them taking place in the same city, but something unique (sp?) to that certain film. Besides J&SB in Scream 3, which then means Woodsboro exist in the "View Askewniverse", There is also, if I remember right, Curdled that mentions the Gecko Brother from From Dusk Till Dawn on a TV newscast at some point. Does anyone else know any others? Spoofs don't count though.

I can't think of any films at the moment but on TV Richard Belzer's character Detective John Munch was on Homicide: Life on the Streets, Law & Order SVU and The X-Files.

I though Tarantino's films probally did, but i'm not a fan of his work so I wasn't sure.

Your right CX, the "You Can Do It" Guy appears in quite a few Happy Madison productions.

Umm, I never thought of Scream 3 in the View Askew universe though I'd say all the other films qualify since they aren't sequels.

What about Steven King movies? I know the books often exist in the same universe as each other.

Superman/Batman and Spider-man, Hulk, and Daredevil movies

All in the DC(supes and bats) and Marvel(the rest) universe although in different big cities.

On a more obscure note, The Dark Backward & the Chase (both directed by Adam Rifkin) are apparently set in the same universe. Both films have scenes with billboards in the background advertising a fictional company called "Blumps."

"The Abyss" and the Terminator movies take place in the same universe.

The company the crew in "The Abyss" work for is Benthic (sp?) Petroleum and thats the same name used on the gas station that the Terminator, John, & Sarah stay at in T2.

For a lot of these examples, they seems more like 'jokes' and winks to the audience rather than an attempt to put these stories in the same universe. Like in From Dusk Till Dawn when the Gekko Brothers buy Big Kauhuna Burgers, I was thinking 'Oh hey! That's the burgers from Pulp Fiction. That's a pretty cool by Quentin'. Really all it does is pull you out of the movie. To be honest I'm tired of a lot of these reoccuring names, products what-have you.

John Landis does these alot.
There's the mention of See You Next Wednesday in each film.
Randolph and Mortimer Duke from Trading Places show up in Coming To America, now bums since their fortune was wiped out in the last movie.
I haven't seen this but I read that there's an Animal House-Twilight Zone connection. In the 'Where are they now' titles in AH is says that Neidermyer was shot in Vietnam by his own troops. In the Landis directed section of TZ, in the Vietnam sequence you can overhear one of the soilders talking about the accidental shooting of Sargent Neidermyer.

Gaspar Noe's Irreversible and Seul Contre Tous share a character and, chronologically, Irreversible is after Seul Contre Tous -- however, it is not a sequel, as that character is only briefly mentioned.

Linklater's films all take place in the same universe, don't they?
