Question about Scarface
I've always wondered about this in a particular scene from Scarface, and thought others might share their opinion.
When Tony and Omar (F. Murray Abraham) are meeting with Sosa in Colombia, Tony and Omar get into a disagreement. Clearly, Tony wants to negotiate with Sosa, and Omar does not. Sosa is called away from the table and the two bicker even more.
Now - here's my question. Omar is then thrown out of a helicopter with a rope around his neck, and Sosa tells Tony he was an informant. Was this the truth? Or did Sosa have him killed because he was an obstacle in the negotiations?
When Sosa was called away from the table and gets on a phone, I could interpret that one of two ways. Either someone is truly on the other end telling him he recognizes Omar as an informant. Or, the table where Tony and Omar are sitting is bugged, and Sosa is actually listening to the conversation between the two.
What does everyone think?

I say he really was an informant, or he just happened to look a lot like the guy who was the informant in question. IMO Tony would have ended up killing Omar anyways, so it really doesn't matter either way.

There is a line of dialogue Sosa says that makes it sound like Omar really was an informant. I forget what he says, but its tough for me to believe he really was an informant, especially when we first meet him, all coked up in the car.
Even Frank disagrees with this claim by Sosa.

I just watched the movie a little bit ago so it's fresh in my mind.
I don't think there's any way you can discern whether he was an informant or not from the movie. It's just left up in the air as far as I'm concerned. Sosa says he is and Frank says he isn't. There is no backstory given on Omar other than what Sosa says. I don't think you can make a valid claim either way. It's just left to our imagination I guess.

I don't care whether he was an informant or not. Omar was my favorite character and I actually cried the first time I saw the movie and they kicked him out the helicoptor. Best character in the whole film!
