Is everyone a fan of Deisney cartoons?

I'm nearly 30 and I've got a ton of animated flicks not just Disney. Most are pretty goofy, but the point ignition was trying to make holds true. There are times when you want something a little less intense than Scarface or Fight Club.
futbol, are you sure about that? Traitorous uncle, ghost of the father? Sounds like Hamlet to me.

I like Disney just fine.
but I think I watched The Lion king probably 500 times when it was on tape(3 nephews that were under 6 yrs at that time, that spent alot of time at my house.) and quite frankly I am sick of it. lol
same goes for Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin.

I'm 46 and I love animation.
Disney has done some great animation, as well as some poor animation. Lion King is at least in the top half.
There is TONS of stuff that is only "kid worthy" - much of that being Disney's direct to video stuff.
But at least MOST of their theater work is intended for both children and adults.
And I enjoy much of it.

It seems to bear repeating that the Pixar films are *not* Disney films. All the story is done in house at Pixar and Disney merely distributes.
The Emperor's New Groove is one of my favorite's also. An interesting thing about that was it was going to be an Aztec take on The Prince and Pauper, and it suffered massive story problems so they kept re-writing it over and over and they ended up releasing a very "Looney Tunes-esque" film just to get something out the door. I seem to remember someone in a Lion King thread saying that Pocahontas was their "A" movie and LK the "B" movie at the time so someone else said they should concentrate on their B movies. I think they need to concentrate a little less. Seems to me they try to hard to make them great, when they need to let the greatness flow from the story. That's where Pixar gets it right.

I love certain Disney films like Beauty & the Beast, Lion King, Aladdin, and that's about it. Maybe a couple more. I think the older films are far overrated. Lion King has universal appeal in its storyline and that's why it is one of the greatest Disney films.

I don't subscribe to the belief that what cames first was automatically better. What I've seen of Disney's earlier animated movies doesn't impress me that much. To me, I don't find The Little Mermaid or The Lion King to be anything remotely resembling "fluff". The latter is my favorite Disney animated movie, and, perhaps, my favorite animated movie of all-time.

I love all the Pixar movies and the older Disney movies. I think Aladdin, Beauty & The Beast, and Lion King were the last great Disney works. Everything after that I didn't care much for. I hate Disney's forced, direct-to-video sequels and their overall business practices. I'm a big fan of animation, and I don't think it's just for kids.

I have quite a few of the old stuff (from where Disney was at the helm, up to the 70's and early 80's) but I really don't care for some of the newer ones like Pocohantas, The Lion King, Little Mermaid (I would have some problems showing this to a kid of my own...)
I do like Beauty and the Beast, Lilo & Stitch (although again not for my kid...,) Aladdin, and a few others.
I enjoy quite a bit of animation, from Anime to CG works to claymation, many times it would be hard to tell the story in a live-action format. However, animation in America has come to mean kiddy fare, and IMHO has suffered for that. Anime is marketed to all age groups, so there may be kiddy fare, teen, adult (maturity level, not porn, although it is available, as well) etc.

Little Mermaid - Ariel is pretty disobedient, and ends up happy in spite of (or even because of) that disobedience. There really aren't any consequences for disobeying.
Lilo and Stitch - Lilo is extremely out of control, and doesn't face any consequences.
Remember, this is all just IMHO, but there are plenty of films that are good for kids, without these problems. Sure, a kid that has been brought up right could sit down and watch these once without going apeshit, but if they had a constant diet of these films, and others with similar problems, that could affect their behavior.

It's a little unclear from your post if you actually have children or not but if you do then your kids (or mine) are not going to be affected by watching a disobedient Ariel or an out of control Lilo. Judging from your words you have good parenting skills and would certainly explain to your kids right from wrong and fantasy from reality. I do that with my kids too and they have watched both those films numerous times without any ill side effects. If you don't have children then you are not giving them near enough credit to figure out right/wrong fantasy/reality. Granted there are those kids who would react negitively to watching those or other movies but they may already be high strung or worse are unsupervised by their parent(s) and that is the fault of bad parenting and certainly not the fault of a Disney film.
