I'm guessing hype, of it being ultra violent, and Tarantino's first in 6 years, I'm guessing around 30 opening weekend, but going south after week 2.

Since it's a holiday weekend, I'm going with 28-30 million.

Yup, me too. Holiday weekend, plus constant commercials on TV lately, plus it's been a while since any type of "event" movie has opened. Being the first Tarantino movie in 5+ years, I consider that to be an event movie. My guess is it does just over 28 million.

Well, The National Gumbo Festival in Bridge City, LA is happening on Friday, National Coming Out Day and Sukkoth on Saturday. Take your pick.

Columbus Day.

I think the fact that it's three hours long will keep people away.

clearly 2X mill... definitely not 30+ IMO. If it was PG-13 or if QT's style didnt turn some peeps off then maybe 30. besides, 25 mill is very respectable for an R rated flick.

My prediction is 33-37 million. It might gross a little more than 100 million, but I don't see it doing much more than that.

For most people, its not really a holiday weekend, they'll still be at work on Monday. It'll be a long holiday for the kids, but they can't get in to see the movie.

It is QT's first film in years (could be plus or minus), an R rating, and his last film didn't set the world on fire at the BO.

Anything more than $30 mil isa QT fanboy dream, 25-27 seems more reasonable.

Well, its a long Thanksgiving weekend in Canada, but I don't know how much that will help, since our box office take is worth about 10 percent of the US one. Anyway, I'm guessing 25-30 (closer to 30) million. I'll be first in line to see it anyway.

There are places where people actually get to observe Columbus Day?
The only people around here that get Columbus Day off are mail carriers and bankers.

As much as QT fans think that he is a God, and his movie will do serious business . . . I doubt it will. About 18 Million seems right to me.
