I cannot believe that Shreveport, LA, will be getting this. This is bloody amazing! I'll be doing this under one condition only though. If I see the two EEs, I'd damn well better get first dibs on seats in the RotK theater. I'll be damned if I get at the theater at like noon to wait in line for the EEs and be forced to get the worst seats in the house for the midnight screening of RotK.

Get ready for a beating, ass.
As if you had any doubt that it would be there. The Legacy is the finest freakin theater in the world. Went there for the charity premiere of Attack of the Clones and was in awe of their La-Z Boy quality seats.

hadnt heard anything like that... where did you hear it? Be a lil weird to have normal and EE versions of films 1 and 2... but then just one of the third flick? Not to mention new line would be flushing a few bazillion down the tube... (short movie = more showings, triple dip dvd etc etc).

Sorry, this was a couple months ago, and my memory for links doesn't stretch back that far :-). It might have been on here, it might have been a link from one of my journal friends, or on one of the gaming boards I frequent.

The article looked believable enough, had quotes from Jackson about why he wanted the full version shown, etc.

For those in San Diego and this may also apply for other AMCs:

I stopped by the AMC20 and got the scoop. The girl showed me the letter they received.

Tickets go on sale at 10am on Thursday. They are also available online for 24hrs.

Cost is $30.

They don't have the showtimes yet.

hmmm...

methinks this has earmarks of a slight cluster#$%^

I just got off the phone with 4 different theaters (relatively) near me. I spoke with management at each theater. Out of the four:

1) One had absolutely no idea that they had been selected. As a matter of fact, they were pretty sure they weren't getting it. Hence, they had no details about showtimes, prices, policies, how to get advance tix, nothing...

2) Another one had rec'd no official word that they had gotten it. The manager had heard through unofficial channels (internet?) that they were going to be getting it. Hence, this theater also had no details about showtimes, prices, policies, how to get advance tix, nothing...

3) The remaining two theaters knew they were getting it, but had rec'd no other information at all. As a matter of fact, one of these theaters had actually been calling around asking if any of the other selected theaters had any info. Plus, this same theater asked me to call 'em back if I found out anything more (jokingly)! Yet again, obviously neither of these remaing two places had any details about showtimes, prices, policies, how to get advance tix, nothing...

Considering tickets are going to go on sale in 3 days, this is just silly that the theaters haven't even been told what is going on.

I want tickets!!!! I want details!!! ARRGGHH!!! I want to find out a lobby/office phone number without having to sit through 20 minutes of recorded showtime info! I need to be able to buy my tickets in advance without having to physically go to the box office!!! BLEARGH! Sorry, about the rant. I'll go take my meds now...

Well, hopefully more Chicago theaters will be added. Even though I think AMC River East is the best theater in town (as far as comfort goes), I can imagine there being a relatively large demand that one screening would not be able to relieve.

This is exactly what happened to me with my theater. I called them up and asked them when the LotR: EE tickets were going on sale, she put the phone down and I could hear her ask the manager to which he replied, "Those are DVDs." She then proceeded to laugh and got back on the phone with me and told me this. I proceed to tell her that I'm looking at the official LotR site and it says you're getting the damn things and tickets go on sale Thursday. This got her attention. The manager got on the phone and recognized my voice (I go to the theater way too bloody often) and said that he'd look into it for me.

I smell a cluster**** as well.

I agree with you guys. this will be a mess. I'm going to be back in my home town of Sunny Los Angeles during the time so I'm looking into either the arclight or Block Of Orange. Anyone else plan on attending to get something going on?

Not in my town (Grand Rapids, MI). They're doing the same thing here that they did for the Star Wars prequels, which is a handing out of the wristbands and then having a lottery to purchase tickets. 550 are being sold.

$30 is a bit steep, since I saw the first two in the theaters for $5.50 apiece, but I really don't care since it's the EE's on the big screen. December 16th can't get here fast enough. Same with November 4th/5th.

Just called Stonybrook here in Louisville (the one theater in KY getting the marathon) and she said all they know is that they are going on sale on Thursday. She didn't have any pricing info, didn't know if they were holding a lottery, or anything. She said they hadn't been contacted.

This is going to be a MESS. Gah!

I think it's going to be just fine and dandy at the Arclight Jack. They update their website regularly and I had absolutely zero problems buying for the first TTT showings last year over the 'net. By contrast, the Bridge Cinemas (the other reserved seating theater in the LA area) had a useless and confusing website and were real 'tards on the phone. I'm not worried, but then again, I'm not going to the 3-movie epic marathon.

thanks Jepthah, been to the arclight plenty of times, once even with a dvdtalk member a nice theater to get in on. hopefully a lot of the crowd will turn away from the massive marathon.

question about the Senator, are they still outfitted to playback 8-Track SDDS sound? I think I remember reading that they merged the 5-channel SDDS mix with the Dolby Digital (6.1) EX they just got for "Attack of the Clones" for a mind-blowing 5 front channel/3 surround channel + subwoofer configurment. As far I as know Jackson and his sound team never made a 8-channel SDDS mix (?) . The Senator though, unlike the Uptown will feature the films in Dolby Digital EX sound.

Watch this space:

http://www.moviefone.com/showtimes/m...&date=20031007

Movietickets.com & fandango.com will probably also have pages for it. Of course the super-upscale theaters (like the Arclight in Los Angeles) may even have their own webpages where you can purchase die-rect-ly. I hope they make the general shows for FOTR and TTT available at the same time, and that they still plan on showing the first two together on a few of those days.

Dude, if I lived in the Metroplex, there is no way I'd go to any other theater. Well, perhaps the Angelika because its a very nice art house (made the trip to see Cowboy Bebop on the big screen). But for me, it would be nothing but the Legacy.

update of sorts

Well, it is 9:30pm EDT on 7-Oct. Tix go on sale in two days and...

The Regal Short Pump 14 in Richmond, VA is still clueless about details. They still don't know that they are getting it at all. Supposedly even their corporate office is totally clueless.

The Senator in Baltimore, MD knows they are getting it, yet still has no details

The Loews Uptown Theater in DC finally has some details. Trilogy will cost 3x$8.75 (a single ticket for each movie). Showtimes are still unknown. Tix through normal channels & Fandango starting 9-Oct.

The AMC Town Center 24 in Hampton, VA has some details. Trilogy will cost $25.00/person and tix go on sale 9-Oct online (movietickets.com) and then at the box office on 10-Oct. No other details are known at this time.

Again, this is just silly that a these theaters don't have more details 2 days before tix go on-sale. Also, each theater told me that their phones have been ringing off the hook. I think that this can officially be declared a cluster&*@!. I can see all the movie ticket sites crashing on Thursday morning too.

As an aside, are there any groups from here planning on doing the trilogy at any of these theaters? Further, anybody got any recommendations/reviews of these places? Which ones out of this list would be the best? Thanks!

Cinemark.com just posted some info on their site regarding the marathon. Tickets go on sale for $25.00 on Thursday at noon. I'm so there.
