Growing up my dad would go and rent the cheap 5 movie for 5.00 at the local store. He never was able to remember what he had watched so it seemed like every week we got to see Micheal Keaton in Clean and Sober. *sigh*
Then one day he rented The Crow. I was shocked. He said that someone at work told him it was good. He never listened to me but someone at work seemed trustworthy.
I had a very large VHS collection when I left home so it left my folks with nothing to watch. That was 6 or so years ago.
Now the have a DVD player and while they only own one DVD, On Deadly Ground, they rent ALL the time. The fun part is talking to my father and asking him what movies he's seen lately. Then from the small bits he remembers I try and guess the title. He enjoys a movie for 2 hours and once it's over it's like all that he has just seen ans heard is just ripped from his brain. I don't get it at all but it does give us a bit more to talk about since I'm nothing like my parents.

The only way I can attribute my love of movies to my parents is that my mom used movies as a cheap babysitter, so I ended up saying a lot of them once I hit 4th grade or so.
