A Few Questions regarding Mel Gibson's "The Passion"
First off last Sunday in Church, our pastor said he had a friend who works in the film industry and he saw a rough cut of the film and he said, "WOW....It's probably one of the most poewrful films I have ever seen in my life". He also went on to say, "It's violent...and it's Rated R for a reason".
My questions are: I heard the movie was going to be entirely done in Jesus' native language Aramaic, is this still going to be?
Are there going to be subtitles? Jim Carivzel(sp?) how did he learn to speak Aramaic so quickly for the film or did they just overdub him with someone who speaks it fluently? From what I am told this will be "just the last 12 hours of Jesus' life, correct?" So we will not see a virgin birth will we? Does nayone have a idea of the run-time for this film? 2 hours?
Thanks

It's in latin and arameic, and Gibson (against his initial wish) has opted to include english subtitles.
No word on runtime yet.
You'd be surprised how quickly actors can 'learn' another language - mostly, they're just taught what they really need to know, and usually learn lines phonetically. Gert Frobe knew no english when he signed on to play Goldfinger - and he's GOOD in that film!
Yes, last part of his life, hence no virgin birth. Did you really want to see one?

Ressurection?
Any idea on whether or not there will be a ressurectionin the film or not? It was approved by the Vatican, so I am assuming it will.
I already think this is going to get Oscar consideration. I can just feel it.

Well, I think Dalvin's got a point. Some films come along when you just know the members are itching to nominate it for SOMETHING, and I think Gibson's got a chance here, even if they're "it's an honor just to be nominated" nominations. Possibly a cinematography win...

Actor Gert Fröbe spoke very little English, so actor Michael Collins dubbed his voice.
