If I believed in god I would definately start praying. They are definately going to screw this up. Brendan Frazier? M. Night? To me this whole thing screams crap.
I will agree that Ridley Scott is a great choice. Id like to see Speilberg or Hanks involved somehow also. They never seem to produce a "bad" movie.
P.S. - Katie Holmes is way too young to play Lois. If Elizabeth Hurley were a good actress she would be perfect for the part.

Liz Hurley is 38 and not getting younger. For a franchise of films, she just isn't young enough. 10 years ago, yes, I'd cast her as Lois Lane.
Katie Holmes is 25 years old, the right age if you wanted to do sequels.

Hah hah, okay. Well, I still enjoyed Unbreakable and didn't like the over-hyped Sixth Sense. But I haven't seen Signs yet. Based on my feelings towards his previous two movies, do you think I should watch Signs? I've heard yays and nays from my friends.

If you are casting a hero, then you need to cast an unknown. Christopher was unknown and due to this, you could actually see him as Superman, instead of that actor that was in those other films...Only problem with this is, the actor can end up being typcasted into the role - which is either a curse or blessing, depending on the quality of the movie and the actor's opinion on it. I don't think Reeves ever minded being "Superman" , but there are some actors who would hate that.
Too bad Katie Holmes is in Batman, while I'm happy she is, I think she would of made a better Lois Lane.
While we are on this subject, I for one, hate the Matrix trilogy, but I will give the Was brothers credit. They got the flying down pat and I think whoever directs this next Superman installment should take a note off of Matrix Revolution's flying scenes.

Just beef up Tom Welling. He'd be a fine Clark Kent/Superman. Add a few pounds of muscle to make him actually play his age, 26, and trim/style his hair. No problemo.

I see that DC finally hired themselves an equivalent to Avi Arad over at Marvel. The question becomes, will he be as successful as Avi Arad is in getting quality deals lined up for DC characters or are we going to see a glut of crap like we got from Marvel films back in the eighties.
(Natalie Portman as Lois Lane? Way too young! But Katie Holmes is a good actress and, given the new Batman film is about a young Bruce Wayne, I can see her as his girlfriend.)

Not really a rumor, but I'd classify it as "thinking in the right direction":
From Superman Homepage
From Superman Homepage
Tom Welling revealed on NBC's Last Call with Carson Daly on Tuesday night, that not only had he been approached about the lead role in the up-coming Superman movie, but that he'd met with then-Director Brett Ratner to talk about it.
"I actually went to Brett's house in Los Angeles and we sat down and talked about it a little bit, both knowing that scheduling would always be an issue," Welling said.
"Basically, if that movie were to happen, the show would pretty much have to go away, and I don't think that's what anybody wants."
"As least they've come to you," Daly said.
"They have, they have. Maybe just as comparison, but they have," Welling said.
Welling also revealed that he met Shaquille O'Neal (a major Superman fan) at the premiere of Welling's new movie "Cheaper By The Dozen".
"He introduced me to his kids as Superman, and that was pretty cool," Welling said.

I was watching my Smallville season 1 DVD tonight and was thinking about that. Welling would be great, he's great on the show, but he'd be the only person from the show in the movie, and it would just be too confusing for the audience. I'd rather them just leave Smallville alone in its own little universe.
Lately i've been thinking Kristin Davis from Sex and the City would make the perfect Lois Lane. I also think she'd fit nicely opposite Brendan Fraiser.

Now if only WB can get their head out of their ass, get a new director and realize that this is the dicrection the franchise should be going.

The problem with that is Tom Welling doesn't want to do it.

From SuperHeroHype:
Back in December, Welling said that he had been approached about the lead role when director Brett Ratner was still on board the project. "I actually went to Brett's house in Los Angeles and we sat down and talked about it a little bit, both knowing that scheduling would always be an issue," Welling said. "Basically, if that movie were to happen, the show would pretty much have to go away, and I don't think that's what anybody wants."
Now, artist Alex Ross has provided Superhero Hype! with an exclusive look at two drawings he did for the possible film, were Welling to play the role. The drawings were not done for the studio, Alex did these on his own to see what Welling might look like. You can view the drawings below, and also be sure to stay tuned to AlexRossArt.com for the latest on his projects

If anything, he needs about a year to get ready because he has to bulk up another 30 lbs.
