Enjoy! Looks like its gonna be a good one... :) |
saw this attached to Bad Boys 2 and was really really excited...this movie looks SWEET!

Awesome... big fan of Desperado and Johnny Depp.... not only that, was that ENRIQUE!?! :)
|
Very nice - this looks fantastic!
|
Yup! That was Enrique! with a guitar suitcase too ;)
|
That was Enrique.
This movie looks to be at least as good as Desperado. Adding Johnny Depp is a great idea, though I read he steals the show for the most part. |
With the success of Pirates of the Carribean, Depp might add some box office draw to this one.

Is Salma Hayek back?
I thought the first one was good, but I really loved gawking at her for the most part. |
Damn, I couldn't get the trailer to work. There aren't many movies that I'm looking forward to over the next 2 years more than this one. I loved the first movie, & Depp is my favorite actor. Plus Salma, that is a perfect movie IMO.

Damn that looks good. :D
|
I just watched this trailer. Is is supposed to be a sequel or something? (I've never seen Desperado or any of Rodriguez's other films, so I'm clueless about all this.)
But, BTW, this movie does look pretty sweet. |
It looks alright. We'll see.
|
Yes, Salma is back but she's apparently not getting naked in this one. So those hoping for more naked Salma better rent Desperado or Frida.
To answer you question, reubs82, Once Upon A Time In Mexico is a sequel to Desperado (starring Antonio Banderas and featuring a cameo by Carlos Gallardo) which in turn was a sequel to El Mariachi (starring Carlos Gallardo). All three films tell the tale of a young guitarrista who had the woman he loved killed (and his hand shot) by a drug lord named Mauricio (known as Moco - jeje). El Mariachi (who's name is Manito BTW - though that may be Cesar just saying "hermanito" and I missheard) swears vengeance on the druglords Moco worked for and finds more than he expected along the way. The third film apparently picks up exactly where the second left off and finds El Mariachi caught in the middle of a drug war when he reaches the next town. The first two have been great shoot-em-ups. |

Originally posted by TeeSeeJay yes, it's the sequel to Desperado, which was the sequel to El Mariachi. This should end his Mariachi trilogy. And his Spy Kids trilogy is done, the from dusk till dawn trilogy is done. This can mean but one of two things: Two sequels to the Faculty or Two sequels to Roadracers  :) |
Looks nice. One film I've been looking forward to. :)
|
Damn, that did look pretty sweet. I love who fills out the cast besides Antonio and Salma - and I guess I will even be able to deal w/ Enrique "The Mole Man" Iglesias.
Can't wait for September 12. |

this trailer took me totally by surprise when I went to see Bad Boys II.

I couldn't give a rat's ass about Eva Mendes. I just wanna see more Salma!

looks cool!depp looks good in this, have you seen him with the shades and the eye make-up. I've been waiting for this for ages. Also has anyone seen the poster it's pretty sweet.
|
Can't wait - glad to see Rodriguez working on films for my age group again rather than those kids movies he's been doing.
|
Looks like it will be a fun time. Count me in.
|
Count me in as well, looks action packed!
|
OK seriously, is there ANY actor alive better than Johnny Depp. I mean, I can't even see many in the same category. He looks absolutely awesom in this movie, & look at this character compared to Jack Sparrow, compared to Gilbert Grape, compared to Donnie Brasco, compared to Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas, compared to Sleepy Hollow compared to Benny & Joon, etc etc, etc. The guy is so diverse it's insane, & he is convinving & brilliant in every single role, even if the movie is not up to par. I cannot wait for this movie.
|
I'm just curious, anyone know why this movie was held for 2 years? Usually a bad sign, but dammit this flick looks like fun. (Was finished in 2001 apparently... I can understand why it wouldn't be released in late 2001 or early 2002.. Summer 2002 somewhat understandable.. but Fall 2003? Seems like a stretch.)
Most creative looking action flick this year..and also the lowest budgetted ($30m) |
RichC2,
Apparently the test screenings haven't gone so well since test audiences found the film incoherent. Although a few people blame that on the version screened not having English subtitles since a huge chunk of the movie is reportedly in Spanish. Also Robert Rodriguez has been reported to be experimenting a lot with what he can do in this movie since he wants to push the limits of what can be accomplished in HD. I forone will keep an open mind until I finally see the movie. I've wanted another Mariachi so bad that no one (Enrique Iglesias) and nothing (bad word of mouth) will keep me from seing it. I just hope that since the film was shot on video that the DVD feature removable English subtitles since I wish the ones present in Desperado weren't there (I personally find them obtrusive since Spanish is my first language). |

Originally posted by Groucho I don't know if you've seen any of the Spy Kids movies, but they are great regardless of your age. Man this trailer also took me by surprise, and it looks HOT. I love the Juno Reactor song they used in the 2nd half of the trailer, I love that song and it's perfect for this movie. I am now officially excited. |

I think Antonio needs this film to be a hit. Spy Kids was a hit, but he can't do kids movies forever.
|
Watching that preview made me feel like a giddy little school girl. Since I'm a guy, that's kinda wierd.
|
 Dudikoff, I know what you mean man.
|
|
I can't wait for this movie!
|
I read that he shot this movie a while ago but didn't edit it until after Spy Kids 3 was finished (he wanted to make all 3 before the kids got too old). Thats supposed to be the reason it took so long to come out.
