I'd say that there's a vital episode that we only get to see in flashbacks. Something that could have made a feature-length film. There had to be something, besides a few bad ass shootouts, that made him such a legend.

Ok, during "Once Upon in Mexico', U will see FLASBACK scenes. those Flashback scenes will be footage of stuff that happened after DESPERADO and in between "Once Upon A Time In Mexico..." it's like watching scenes of a previous movie, but actually was never a full movie, It'll be snipets... so "Once Upon A Time In Mexico"will play as part 4 and the flashbacks will play as part 3... I'll post the interview later, in case anyone is still confused.

fumanstan 07-22-03 09:33 PM

It's still counts as Part 3. It shouldn't matter if there are flashbacks in a movie.

DonnachaOne 07-22-03 10:27 PM

Another reason why this film is taking so long to put out -

Rodriguez is scoring the film.

So, he wanted to learn how to write a score.

then it still counts as part 3. if those flash backs come out as a full film then you can name it part 4 which will be between 2 and 3. you can't just release Jaws 1 and then Jaws 3, you need the sequel to be part 2.

flash back story or not, this film will still count as the third film. :p

gerrythedon 07-23-03 01:52 AM

It's not my FK'N movie, so I can't comment on it...It's what ROBERT RODRIGUEZ said, not me.. so he can call it a prequel, a sequel, 4,5, 6, etc.. I'm still watching Part 4 when it comes out September 12.:)

Jackskeleton 07-23-03 04:28 AM

You do that. the rest of us will be in the Part 3's theater enjoying Once upon a time in mexico. :p

Groucho 07-23-03 07:56 AM

Please post a link to the intererview where Rodriguez called this "Part 4."

Also, I shall now refer to Gangs of New York as Gangs of New York, Part 2 because it contains flashbacks.

And The Godfather, Part 2 contains flashbacks to scenes that happen before the first movie, so all the Godfathers have to be bumped up. The Godfather is now The Godfather, Part 2. The Godfather, Part 2 is now The Godfather, Part 3 and the The Godfather, Part 3 is now The Godfather, Part 4.

I hope this makes everything clear.

Groucho 07-24-03 03:12 PM

Here's the exact quote from the link:

Talking exclusively to Empire Magazine, he said, "It's not even like the third movie. Its sort of like the fourth movie. You'll see some flashbacks to a movie that doesnt exist in between the two- i think thats a pretty cool idea. People who havent seen desperado will think the flasbacks are from Desperado and we're just like, 'No, its from a lost movie thats in between.' "
He's not saying that this is "Part 4," he's just saying that a lot has happened between Desperado and this film.

RocShemp 07-24-03 03:37 PM

Crap! Groucho beat me to it! (That's what I get for checking out two threads at the same time AND respond to a bunch of long overdo e-mails!)

But, yeah. He's not saying that this is part four at all.

From what I've read, the flashbacks are supposed to establish why Willem Dafoe's character hates El Mariachi and how that's the reason (among others) why Johnny Depp's character wants to recruit El Mariachi to take Willem Dafoe's character out.

gerrythedon 07-25-03 02:14 AM

yeah he's also not saying that it's part 3.:)
and they're said Back-to- Back in the quote... Ya just hating on me.:)

Jackskeleton 07-25-03 03:49 AM

Maybe it's nothing then.. if it's like a part 4 but not and it's not even like the third movie.. then it must be 2 1/2

You will be now refered to as "My Man from Inglewood"... but then again, chances are you live on the close boarders of Hawthorne or southgate.. so I'm not sure if I should really call you that. On better thought.. with all the facts here. I'll call you

"My man from Hawtorne" since you know.. I'm not really sure you can say you are from Inglewood.. right?

the point is.. it's freak'n part 3.

joelgee 07-25-03 06:58 AM

You say 3. He says 4. I say, "One plain popcorn. Which way's the theater?"

No. :)

I'm there like Cher! I still haven't even seen the trailer. I'll be seeing Bad Boys II soon, so hopefully I'll get to see it. Haven't been to the movies in sooooo long.

Once Upon a Time in Mexico

Saw the trailer for Once Upon a Time in Mexico, the third movies in the "El Mariachi" series by Robert Rodriguez. Un-freakin
-believable. Great cast (everyone from Desperado plus Johny Depp = WOW), great action, the usual cuts from Robert Rodriguez, and some catchy bits of dialogue to boot.

Looks pretty awesome. I am a big fan of the first two movies, so I am eagerly anticipating the third. Who's with me?

PixyJunket 08-13-03 08:55 AM

I'm there. :D
