I'm not 100% satisfied with the result but it was the maximum what I could do with the budget and script.
This is why he's a terrible filmmaker. IMDB (not the most reliable source of info, I know) has House of the Dead's budget listed at $12 million. (http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0317676/business) Box Office Mojo backs up that figure (http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/...eofthedead.htm). The problem is it doesn't look like a $12 mil film! Had he achieved that final product with only a $1 million budget I might be more forgiving. But it looks like a cheap piece of crap, not even counting its plot/acting/etc. problems. For a $12 million horror movie with no big name stars, it should've at least looked good. But I suppose a few mil went into the "Matrix sequence".

For comparison, Cabin Fever cost $1.5 million and Texas Chainsaw remake cost $9.5 million. Both look more polished and professional (IMO) than House of the Dead.

I officially want to meet this guy and then slay him.

I knew House of the Dead would be shitty, but its not as shitty as those!!

You thought HOD was better than those other films? My god, you MUST be joking.

What's really sad is that even after HOD this boob is still able to get studio money.

I wonder about that. More likely, he is getting money from European investment consortiums. There's a whole continent full of suckers (wealthy industrialists et al) who have nothing better to do than throw money into movies. That's how Stallone made the last half dozen flicks of his.

I am amazed that he would put that on his site. Poor Uwe.

matome 06-28-04 10:12 AM

Sounds like a joke, but if it's not that's pretty pathetic.

necros 06-28-04 10:41 AM

Only thing I can think of to say to this guy is ... If you can't take criticism, especially from internet flamers, you're in the wrong business.

Abob Teff 06-28-04 02:36 PM

Now Uwe will joing with his sidekick Silent Bob and begin the trek across the country, beating up all of the pathetic loser ****s that made fun of him on Movie Poopshoot!

He's not from the US or Canada. In different countries, other countries have different spellings or different names based on their native language. C doesn't always have the hard K sound like it does in English in other languages, so Kanada is an accepted spelling for Canada. The US is UUEE in spanish speaking countries, for example.

He sent me that rant in response to the email I sent him regarding HOtD. I posted my original email here:

I just assumed he was a big Akira fan.

No, silly, that would be Kaneda :p

Quapil 06-30-04 01:29 AM

Well, Kanada is German for Canada so he just missed to translate it :)

I never saw the film but from the looks of the trailer I thoght it really would suck :)
Same goes for Alone in the Dark. Damn, do they have to **** up all good names of video games with bad movies? I only player 1-3 but hey, it's called "Alone" in the dark so what about a group of people??

Well, just let's hope that Gans will make a nice Silent Hill movie and let's hope Uwe will be thrown back to Germany where shitty movies are pretty common :)
