Yea, that Shakespeace in Love was hilarious... I mean, c'mon, its not even a comedy!!! Same goes for Youve got Mail. Galaxy Quest? Topsy-Turvy? This could be the single worst list EVER created.

gutwrencher 09-09-03 12:39 AM

the 2 films that always make me laugh are They All Laughed and Carbon Copy...both of which have been ignored and are MIA on dvd. everyone will have a unique list.

DonnachaOne 09-09-03 12:42 AM

Lists like this are made to create argument and discussion, so while some of their choices - and snubs - are definitely questionable and sometimes flat-out wrong, it's a pretty comprehensive list. More like a Blockbuster "In the modd for a laugh? Pick one these whacky flicks!" list than a best-of, but oh well.

Shakespeare In Love WAS hilarious, thank you.

Same goes for Youve got Mail.
Romantic Comedy

Galaxy Quest?
Oh come on, did you not see the film? It's parody all the way through.

This could be the single worst list EVER created.
I won't disagree.

muggins 09-09-03 12:43 AM

Ghostbusters??

Some of those being considered the funniest film is just disappointing.

I do agree with Quest for the Holy Grail though.

RobCA 09-09-03 12:46 AM

How could they leave off Young Frankenstein?? -eek- :hscratch:

Rob

THEY DID WHAT ?!?!?!?!?!?!
That omission invalidates the list, IMO, and I don't need to waste my time reading it now. lol.

So does this mean you approve or disapprove about Ghostbusters being on the list?

atari2600 09-09-03 02:20 AM

horrible list. just horrible.

the big train 09-09-03 02:20 AM

No Clue = crappy list

edytwinky 09-09-03 02:43 AM

Man, I can just see three 60-year old men creating this list at Reader's Digest right now

The Nature Boy 09-09-03 03:23 AM

No Naked Gun or Caddyshack off the top of my head. F Readers Digest.

wmansir 09-09-03 03:57 AM

Just like the AFI's 100 best comedies list I don't think the main criteria for these movies was funniness. So calling these movies the "funniest" is just wrong. I think these lists are better looked at as Top 100 movies that are also funny/comedies.

They should place two voting links next to the movies on their web page: "Funniest!" and "You must have been high."

zwuncki 09-09-03 04:44 AM

what a list? some of the movies are funny, yeah, but that´s it. where is one of the best srewball comedies ever arsenic and old lace? and that´s just one to name.

but i gotta say some great comedys are in it. and imho the best comedy of all time too:

to be or not to be

i just couldn´t stop laughing, funnier than any movie i´ve ever seen

immortal_zeus 09-09-03 04:51 AM

These types of lists are usually pure crap. This one is no exception. Some of the movies on the list can't even be considered comedies. And how could you not include Dumb & Dumber? That movie was pure genius. GENIUS, I TELL YOU!

The obvious dismissal of anything by Kevin Smith or Adam Sandler (pre-Big Daddy) can only mean one thing -- these idiots are morons! :)

Jaymole 09-09-03 07:29 AM

The worst idea for a film list is "funniest films". Comedy is the most subjective film genre, everyone has different tastes. It's better to just ignore lists like this

For example, I don't find anything that Kevin Smith or Adam Sandler has made even remotely funny.

That omission alone disqualifies the list!

Rob

That movie would make my Top 5 Funniest Movies List ...

mr_jbloggs 09-09-03 09:55 AM

Where is "All of Me"

ToddSm66 09-09-03 10:41 AM

The Big Lebowski is not even listed on either list?

Geofferson 09-09-03 12:10 PM

Glad to see Silver Streak, Semi-Tough, Bingo Long..., After Hours and Groundhog Day in that list.

Jerry Maguire? - that wasn't even a comedy

Groucho 09-09-03 12:16 PM

Good grief, what a bunch of dated crap. This is the oldest movie on the list I've seen:

MONTY PYTHON AND THE HOLY GRAIL (1975)

Most of the earlier films I've never even heard of.
