I'm not going to dismiss these guys out of hand because I remember my reaction when I initially heard that Michael Keaton had been cast as Batman and it was definitely worse than the reactions I've heard to any of these guys. Guess what? Keaton wound up being terrific, the best of the screen Batmans.
I'm not saying that would happen with any of these guys, but I give the director credit that, based on his previous films, he's good enough at casting to have seen something in each of these guys that suggests they are capable of pulling off the role.

For all of you "they're TOO young!!!" worriers, bear in mind that the classic Batman: Year One comic miniseries clearly states that Bruce Wayne was 25 when he took up the cape and cowl. I wouldn't worry about young so much as I would be concerned with whether or not the young actor (a) can actually act, (b) can look the part, and (c) is heavily into the ceremonial tunic and full regalia.

So, this list; hmm. I don't see anyone I could see as Batman. I like Chris Bale, but he's too gaunt - he'd make a good Vampire Hunter D, but not Batman - also, his American accent isn't brilliant. As happy as I am to see a fellow Irishman on the list, can Cillian even DO an American accent?
David Boreanez... no. Too similar to the role he has now. This is why Affleck didn't want to play in Preacher - he felt it was too similar to his role in Dogma. Also, Dave's not looking good these days.
The other roles... just silliness, really.
Personally, I don't see why they have to have a star when the name 'BATMAN' will pull people in. I can understand it with a lesser-known-superhero like Daredevil (admit it, fanboys), but Batman? He's much more of an icon, much more recognizable.
And in that book, who is his face modeled after? Gregory Peck.
Ah, what I would give to see a Batman/Superman film starring Steve McQueen and Paul Newman, respectively.
Unfortunately, that won't be the case.

I did read a few interesting things on IGN FIlmforce earlier today:
WB would really like to go young with Batman and (gasp) Freddie Prinze Jr is a canidate for the role. I don't know what would be worse Ashton Conchshell or Mrs. SMG!

I've been actively saying for a while now, that a great Batman would be-Christian Bale. I'm glad WB and Nolan have included him in the casting decision. Half that list are people who are NOT Batman material. Why Bale, then? Two reasons: 1-He can act (see American Psycho) and 2-he can do the action (see Equilibirum).
He has my vote.

I think Nolan should reuse his previous anti-hero from Insomnia, and cast Al Pacino.
Boo-ya!!!
Actually, speaking of...
Guy Peace might not make a bad Batman.

It's funny. Because Jon Peters is the producer of the Batman films.

I say go with Bale. He's got the lips to pull it off too anyway.

Bale is the best choice for the role - but I'm still not sure how he would look in the oufit - but ya' never know. Infact, I wonder if they are re-designing the outfit this time around (and no, I don't mean adding nipples!).
