Definitely not. Robbie The Robot is from Forbidden Planet and was a tough, yet endearing, character with encyclopedic knowledge. Robot (from Lost In Space) was an endearing, yet tough, character with encyclopedic knowledege, AND the ability to shout "Danger! Danger!".

5. melvin udall

This was hard, because most of the characters I would want to invite are on tv shows . . .

1. Jesus (in many a movie)
2. Yoda (Star Wars)
3. John Murdock (Dark City)
4. Tom Servo (MST3K)
5. The albino crow used in Gormenghast (what can I say . . . I'm a bird lover)

2. Sarah Connor - Terminator 2
3. Catherine Banning - The Thomas Crowne Affair
4. Dana Scully - X-files Movie
5. Satine - Moulin Rouge

All of them smart and beautiful.

Nope, I used to think the same thing, but you can see from the pictures they aren't:

Robbie the Robot is on this page:

1) Jenifer Lopez as any character from anyone of her movies (for obvious reasons)
2) Steve Buschemi as Seyour fro Ghost World (for sarcastic humor and entertainment, could probablyhold a decent conversation)
3) Agent Smith (because he's one of my favorites and he'd be unintentionally funny)
4) Russell Crowe as John Nash (to pick his brain)
5) Whatever Beyonce's name is in tht movie shes doing withCuba Gooding Jr. (so I cous steal her from Jay Z!)

Robbie The Robot

Not that it really matters, but your post set me to googling. Robbie fans may find this interesting; from the "Irreverent Guide to 'Lost in Space” FAQ:

5. Wasn't the Robot and Robbie (the robot from Forbidden Planet) one in the same?
A. Nope! The Robot and Robbie bear a stricking resemblence because they were both designed by Robert Kinoshita. Notice the "radar sensors" on each side of the robot heads and you will see they have a similiar style. Both robots appeared together in "War of the Robots" in the show's first season. They appeared together again in "Condemned of Space" in the third season only this time Robbie is armed with laser gun.

Jack Crabb - Little Big Man ( Oh the stories he would tell).
Bluto Blutarsky - Animal House
Sanjuro Tsubaki - ( I could just see Bluto making fun of him )
Sam Spade - Maltese Falcon
Rufus T. Firefly - Duck Soup

Though, we'd definately need another place setting for Jon Favreau.
