Too many twists, agree. They coulda let off the last one.

The point was to find out WHO was giving the drugs. I think. And get that colonel guy put away.

Oh, another bad Travolta movie? Like Face/Off? Pulp Fiction?

It's not that bad. You call it bad because of the storyline with the twists.

Does this really make it that bad? I thought it was very entertaining.

if you watch the feature with the writer you see how many times the story changed.

all in all, i actually liked it, despite the stupid twists. i understood all of the twists except for two side points. 1, why bother? if they are ghost why not just tap phones and shadow people until they learn what they need to know and then have those people involved have accidents. 2nd, it made to appear that these section 8 guys have been around for awhile. from what i could tell of the story is that jackson learned about the drugs very recently, so then how did his training squad already have all but 2 section 8 members in it. and what luck that the 2 who weren't were also the guilty guys. now maybe the squad except for the 2 weren't already section 8, but then this ghost group was made up only of travolta. damn it was a stupid movie.

Just another movie with twist after twist, just for the sake of the twist. By the time the movie is over, you're not certain of what the heck is going on, and you've long stopped caring.

Honk!

'Basic' was one kick ass movie. I loved it, I want to go out and buy it one day. I really really enjoyed this one. And I think the people that diss it, only diss it maybe cause they couldnt understand it.

I agree with Charlie Goose, its not that people didnt like it becuase they didnt understand it, its becuase they hit you with so many twists by the films end that you dont really care why everything happened anymore. It just seemed as if the twists in the movie were just there for the sake of having alot of twists.

Three (of many) questions I have about this movie:

1)
Spoiler:
How did they all know the captain would pick Travolta to do the interrogation? Why wouldn't the captain just leave it to the female (I forget names) since she was supposed to be so much less competant?

2)
Spoiler:
Why did Travolta have to pull a gun and grab the suspect and stick his head in the airplane prop? Why not just say "I've got a few more questions for him?" and take him away again? Why didn't he get in trouble for this?

3)
Spoiler:
Did no one else on the base know that the suspect was supposed to be black? Shouldn't the captain at least have known?

Ok, couple of more questions:

4)
Spoiler:
Who killed Giovani Ribisi in the hospital? Or did anyone? Was it the doctor?

5)
Spoiler:
Doesn't a super-secret spy organization post a friggin guard at the door, instead of just letting some chick with a gun walk right in? (at the end)

6)
Spoiler:
Did they really expect no one to search for the bodies after the hurricane? How far can 7 bodies fly in the middle of the forest? What are the odds of not finding at least signs of one body?

7)
Spoiler:
I can't remember the guys name (the one with no shirt), but was he involved in the drug smuggling? I don't remember seeing him at the end.

8)
Spoiler:
Are females allowed in the Rangers now? I thought it was still a male-only group.

Anyway, I thought the movie was entertaining but a little ridiculous.

Twists have to serve a purpose. There needs to be a payoff. Twists for the sake of having twists IS bad.

Of course, this is the same writer of Darkness Falls.
