It could have.. but you would have to pry the directors chair out of lucas cold dead body in order to put a time jump from early childhood to young jedi training that happened between I and II

I am sick of all this new talk of child friendly BS in the world. I was 5 when the Episode iV came out, and I grew up on all the old unfiltered media of the late 70s early 80s, and I am not a sociopath. Why must we water everything down for the generation of today? And does it strike anone else that the generation of today is a lot worse than previous generations? I never heard of anyone from my generation shooting up their school, yet we had violent movies, toy guns (that looked real and blurred the line of toy/weapon) and noone really tried to shelter us from the world.
Now you have school shootings almost weekly, you have kids that are engaging in dangerous, extremely promiscuous sex(see Frontline: The Lost Children of Rockdale County). It seems that the more people try to filter and hide from children, the worse they are becoming. Now I know there are other factors at work, biggest being people not taking responsibility on parenting their children, and the children themselves.
But please Lucas, and all you other Hollywood types, let us parents decide what is best for our children, let us explain why Solo shot first - hell I nevedr had that one explained to me and I turned out okay. You do not have to dillute and Telatubby-ize movies for them to be child friendly.
[/end rant]
