Cult, rare, underground or otherwise unknown movies that YOU love
This thread is intended to be a froum that will allow folks to post movies that are not mainstream (though mainstream movies are fine to). Basically I'm slowly running out of movies I really love, and am looking to explan my horizions. I'm hoping you all can turn me onto some movies that I may not have heard of, and in turn maybe I have a few as well you might like.
To start it off, I would say one cult/forign film I found interesting was Funny Games. Definatly not for everyone, and not for children, the movie follows two serial killers and their exploits through one evening. While I'm not a big serial killer fan, I found the movie itself interesting in the fact that towards the end of this tale, you really dislike the main characters, and in the style this was shot and the direction of the movie, I felt the director did a good job playing off the percieved audiences perceptions. Also, I thought the ending, however glib, was unique. I'd say more, but I wouldn't want to give to much away.

I suck at describing movies, but here are a couple of links:
http://www.allmovie.com/cg/avg.dll?p=avg&sql=A40330
http://us.imdb.com/Title?0102757
I'm not religious, by any means, but I love this film.

Probably my favorite foreign movie is Europa Europa which finally came out on DVD not all that long ago. I believe you can find it in the review section if you want a summary. It is based on a true story of how a German Jew survived the Holocaust by concealing his identity, literally within enemy ranks.
I'm not a huge sci-fi or horror fan but I loved The Hidden. It's sort of a half cop movie half sci-fi starring Kyle MacLachlan trying to stop an alien who loves fast cars, loud music and big guns from taking over human bodies
Wasn't as good recently the second time I saw it, but I remember the first time I saw Little Odessa it really held my attention. Tim Roth is a hitman who returns home to do a job and has to face his family.
This is about as obscure as I get

Ok here's a question, does anyone know the name of the Woody Allen film in which he dubs over some Japanese spy film? One of the most funny and interesting films I've ever seen, and I can't stand Woody Allen films in general.

I dug the recently released Count of Monte Cristo, allthough it does not follow the book much.
Also, another one which I'm not sure to many know of for anime fans would be Exo Squad. One of the few American cartoons to have an engaging storyline, allthough the argument can be made that it's very "robotechish", if that's even a term.
