I figure the teen/20-somethings in the movie (and whoever is the hip-hop star) will be the victor. Both lose.

Exactly. However, they don't want word to be leaked about it, because people who side with one villian will go in pissed or start trashing the movie. The idea is to great some tension and people who prefer Freddy will go to see Freddy when and vice versa... However, New Line also can't actually make a winner out of a child-killing monster (Freddy) . And they can't make a winner out of a cold-blooded thoughtless killer (Jason). It just doesn't work like that. It would be glorifying violence and that's the last thing New Line wants on their hands..

So , you can figure that neither one will win, but you can also figure that the ending will leave room for a sequel, as Robert Englund and other's have already said they are interested in doin' a sequel for the film.

My concern would be if they had Jason turn good to beat Freddy -- well, as good as he could become. Something like Darth Vader vs Emperor. Bad guy who finally sees the light. With Jason, maybe it's a threatened child or the like.

I have the feeling that this is exactly what's going to happen. I got that impression when the news came out that Kane Hodder was going to be replaced to get someone (I think they were saying) "who would show more emotion, cry, be likeable."

They have openly stated that Jason's character will be more human. They want the audience to feel as if Jason is a grown child being used - at least that's what I've read from interviews with Yu.

-shrugs-

It would not surprise me that Jason turns good by the end of it. Or at least something almost good./

If Jason becomes a good guy, then the studio will have done what no real opponent has ever been able to accomplish...destroying him!!!

How come there are no female psycho-killers?

Maybe they pass the torch to Kelly Rowland...

No, he can be like Hulk Hogan and switch back and forth between good and evil.

This is not confirmed but I do believe that Freddy will win, after all New Line Cinema is the house that Freddy built

Caught a sneak preview last thursday and thought I'd throw out a couple tidbits for y'all. None of the spoilers are major, but I'm blacking them out for those of you that don't want to know anything.

Is there a high body count?
Spoiler:
Oh yes. It's got to be close, if not exceed, any of the previous movies in either franchise.

Does Jason turn good?
Spoiler:
If they did something that stupid, this would not be blacked out as I would be trying to warn everyone possible not to go see it

How do they fight? (since Jason's in the real world and Freddy's not)
Spoiler:
Jason gets shot up with a ton of tranquilizers, which knocks him out and Freddy gets pulled out of a dream into the real world

Overall it's a fun movie if you like the franchises. I'd say, overall, it's considerably above most of the previous movies in terms of quality (i.e. acting, script, direction). Not that it's going to win any Oscars, but I'd definitely put it above the average slasher flick. Most likely, if it looks like something you think you'd like, you probably will.

Just saw a sneak preview last night. I'm a pretty big fan of both franchises, and can easy say it exceeded my expectations. The movie was alot of fun, and the ending was surprisingly good. There were boobies, drugs, drinking, sex and a bada$$ battle at the end. What else do you need?
