What's your favorite movie that a singer that died was singing your kind of music?

My favorite is "La Bomba" the true story of Ritchie Valens, that with Buddy Holly and The Big Bopper died in a plane crash; just a few hundred feet from the runway taking off into the snow filled air. Richie Valens was singing 'Donna' my favorite from that era, Lou Diamond Philips was lip synching the song in a phone booth to his girlfriend Donna in the film.

What's yours?

The Doors was pretty interesting.

Val Kilmer was no Lizard King though. Jim Morrison was the crawling king snake. When he gets to the buildup point in "The End" I always go nuts. That song is kinda like a mini-greek tragedy.

I don't think I have seen any movie about a dead singer other than that one though.

I'm not much into singers who died but I prefer films that have my kind of music that's sung, thus, dead means nothing or alive, as long as I like the singing in the movie.

I'm not sure if I understand the question, but I think the answer is The Buddy Holly Story, but maybe it's really Nosferatu, I can't really be sure...

danol, in all seriousness, do you ever read over your posts to see if they make any sense, or do you just throw down the words, hit "post" and run?

The novelty is starting to wear a little thin.

how quickly the tide has turned..

anyways...i'd have to agree with both movies previously mentioned. didn't see much of Valens before the movie, but Kilmer nailed Morrison.

oh yeah, and Purple Rain.

oh wait...its just Prince's CAREER that's dead...

Wow. You guys are being pretty hard on danol. He never picks fights or really even say anything inflammatory (that I know of.) Lighten up.

I agree. It's like picking on the little kid in school because he talks funny.

Who's picking? I asked a simple question. The answer will reveal whether "picking on" is justified or not.

Ninja Turtles 2: Secret of the Ooze.

It captures the death of Vanilla Ice so well.

Believe or not I go over the post a few times before typing it in, I wonder how your posts will be when you reach age 56 or 66 or 76 or 86. The subscription I have with Sounds and Visions mag runs out in October of 2028, 25 years from now, I will be 81 years of age I hope by then you'll understand my posts.

If not make yourself a danol reader, put all the info in and out pops the correct translation, look if you can't understand me; please don't come into my posts to belittle me. Talking about waring 'thin' is the numerous counts of personal attacks I try to avoid doing to other members.

Your best option is when you see my user name associated with my own post avoid it completely. If you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen or avoid me completely please.

Maybe it's working with Japanese for five years, but I can decipher danol's stuff pretty easily.

As for the question, it would probably be the Doors, though I've never watched it even though I've had the LD for some time now. Just never got around to it.

Denis leary said it best about jim morrison:

"I can sum up the Doors movie for you in two seconds: I'm drunk, I'm nobody, I'm drunk, I'm famous, I'm drunk, I'm dead."

I can sum up Denis Leary:

I'm mediocre, I'm nobody, I steal Dan Hicks' act, I'm famous (on MTV), I outlive Dan Hicks, I start to suck again.

danol,

I will say that you seem to take more off people with more composure that most posters here .

You are absolutely right, if one cannot understand your posts, they must become, "a danol reader."

I will admit that sentence is a little mixed up.

I meant to say, you seem to take more grief off of people than anyone else and still manage to have a great deal of composure in the process.
