It depends. If the name "Mr. Ray" is under copyright, then he has every right to sue...
It is my understanding (and someone correct me if I’m wrong) that you can’t just copyright a common name, and the name alone. If “Mr. Ray” is indeed copyrighted, then it is his character, or “persona,” if you will, that is actually copyrighted.

Consider the Starship Enterprise; something that Paramount has copyrighted. However, whether it is a new TV show or the U.S. Navy, there is nothing preventing folks from naming some kind of new ship the Enterprise. You can’t just copyright a name like that. Now, if you create a ship with a saucer, secondary hull, and two warp nacelles, and name it the Enterprise, then you have a legal problem with Paramount.

Unless Disney/Pixar deliberately based their character of “Mr. Ray” on this other idiot “Mr. Ray,” (which I think is unlikely) this is just another frivolous lawsuit.

... and, ALL movies have that little disclaimer on the end stating that there is no relationship between the characters and real people, and that any such semblance is unintentional. Shouldn't that be basis enough to get the case thrown out?
Yep.
