Re: Has anyone seen Friedkin's Sorcerer?
but i loved midnight express which kinda has the same kind of mood.
i mean the acting is good but nothing special. the action that's anything is the truck on the bridge. the music is super cool. cinematography is eh.
the ending is like the french connection where you don't know what really happens. i give it a 6 on a scale of 10.

I finally bought this one and watched it tonight. What a great film! I'm sure I'm in the minority but the only thing I didn't care for was the score by Tangerine Dream. As a score it was decent but I don't think it fit this movie at all. It was far too techno for a film set in the South American jungle. It was more fitting for a Neo-noir sci-fi film.
The blu-ray looks AMAZING! I know there was some controversy over the color timing of the transfer but I thought it looked fantastic. It looked like it could have been filmed yesterday. I'm a but disappointed by the lack of special features but the film itself looks and sounds so good I'm not complaining.
Roy Scheider remains my favorite actor ever. Only able to play supporting roles my ass!

Your post is somewhat unclear to me. Is this the first time you've seen this film? If so, how can Roy Scheider be your favorite actor and you've never seen this film before. To me, it's one of his best performances.

Yep, this is the first time I've ever seen this film. I held off on buying the disaster of a DVD and just now got around to buying the blu-ray. Luckily Scheider had made more than this one film for me to judge his acting ability.

By the way, the "So long, sport" was meant for our resident Scheider fanatic, but I guess he didn't pick up on it. I kicked myself for not posting it in the RIP thread a few years ago.

^There you go. One of the best performances of the '80s, I think. A shame he didn't get too many more great roles like that.

I finally watched the Blu-ray release of this excellent film and wrote a 140 character movie review of it on Twitter:
Sorcerer (1977): William Friedkin's superb remake of "Wages of Fear" that realistically illustrates this idea: "life sucks and then you die"

Interesting behind-the-scenes column on Sorceror penned by William Friedkin in today's Variety.
