they fall in love, she tells him she's dying, they get married, and years later he comes back a better man to honor her memory or something... at least something like that from what i remember, i last saw it a few months ago. It's the marriage and death thing that bugged me the most
Although it's based on a book... not sure if the book was based on real events or not. Just a bit too sappy for my tastes... although i'm not fond of many "chick flicks" anyway, so this wouldn't be the movie to turn me
Did you watch the whole movie?

Spoiler:
They got married because #1 on her list of things to do was to get married at the church that her parents got married in. It's not surprising that Landon wants to help fulfill her wish since he did a bunch of other things for her that was on her list (be two places at once, get a tattoo, etc.).

The book by Nicholas Sparks is fiction.

That was a good scene. Nice song, too.

Of course i watched the whole movie. Did you? It doesn't matter what the explanation for marriage was, it still felt silly to me. Some romantic endings click, and some don't. For me this didn't.

The only that was nice was the song she sings at the play. I'll always remember this movie because of my friend saying "she's going to get prettier, right?" at the start of the movie and saying "that works" during that scene.

yeah, they were referring to deleted scenes in general. it just would've been nice to see at least some of it.
What I like about this movie is that
Spoiler:
they didn't focus on Jamie's death like some other movie would've. They never show you how and instead show us the positive outcome that came about it--Landon becoming a doctor despite his mom's, and everyone else's doubts about him.
. That was nice.

Forgive me. I thought perhaps you had not seen the entire movie and therefore did not understand why he wanted to marry her. It wasn't meant as a slam.

I sort of which they would have showed Jamie's funeral or something to make the movie more emotional. I found myself inexplicably wanting to cry but I couldn't. I think if there were a funeral scene, though, the waterworks would've started.

I don't know Mandy Moore's singing career from a monkey's uncle, but I also really enjoyed this movie. It was a bit sappy and manipulative, but I enjoyed the unlikely romance and Landon's attempts to fulfill all of her wishes.

Misty moment
Spoiler:
During the narration of the wedding scene, "We had one perfect summer, then she went, with her unfailing faith."

I liked it. I actually almost shed a tear, but after checking the man book, page 2378, I realized that was verbotten.

Every person I know loves A Walk To Remember.

We have watched the movie many times as a family, it has meaning and warmth to it. After watching the movie we were able to talk about relationships and how we should treat one another.

I am glad that Hollywood makes movies that the whole family can sit down and enjoy it together.

Holy crap, you wanker!!! I was actually going to start a thread in Other asking where the hell you were....and now you make an appearance in this thread bashing A Walk to Remember.

Just because you've never felt the love of another....monster.

I'm sure you don't remember, but you said that to me once.

No, I don't remember. I, the great Jules Winfield, don't hold much emotional investment in you peons and just say whatever crap comes out of my mouth. I'm kinda sad that you remember that but then again, you are the man who cried at a Mandy Moore movie and not because it was bad either.

P.S.- You have a man crush on me. That's the only way to explain why you remember the things I say to you. I'm kinda flattered but then again, who doesn't have a crush on me? (Jules laughs to himself for a while and then bites his lip, wishing someone would love him for his mind and not for his hot bod.)

It's here. I couldn't figure out how to link directly to your post, but it's near the bottom.

I didn't cry during the movie, I just got choked up. Don't hate the playa. You know you cried during the movie, admit it. I know you're a big softy...and you're sensitive too.

I don't love you cause you're a slut. I could never respect someone who willingly gives everybody a lapdance for a nickel.
