Well according to IMDB.com: So I guess he did it for the hell of it and it freaked Letterman out. I guess Crispin Glover figured "so what if I'm on Letterman? Lemme just have fun and screw with his head."

I wish I could have seen what happened after they cut to commercial.

He is one STRANGE guy.

I don't think he's playing at all. But on another note I kinda wish he was playing cause it would be nice to see something like this "ruin" his career.

I think Willard looked cool but overall he's kind of drifted to the bottom of the Hollywood pile.

I saw this when it originally aired - that's when I started thinking Dave was a stuck-up jerk. He should've lightened up and let it go. I thought Glover was on Letterman's show recently even though Letterman vowed to never have him on again. Wasn't he?

He was interviewed at Chud.com or somewhere semi-recently, and they made it a point of saying this guy wasn't all that strange in reality. Maybe a bit eccentric, but not the psycho his reputation and performances would have you believe. Even Glover himself seemed to be pushing that point, as he said it has ultimately cost him some roles because they thought he really was crazy.

I guess this goes along with what Bob Gale said about Crispin Glover's outrageous demands for BTTF2. So, Gale just casted a different actor and lessened the character.

I would like to see Glover on a talk show recently. He's made a minor comeback with Nurse Betty, Charlie's Angels 1 & 2 and Willard.

... and I thought Paul Schaffer was strange.

Didn't Glover sue Spielberg over using his image without permission in BTTF2? I recall he won a huge settlement.

No. In an interview in the recent Stuff magazine with Glover, he did sue over the use of his image... too lazy to dig up the magazine, but it was something like another actor dressed up to kind of look like him.

As for Glover... every interview i've seen he seems like a loon. I loved him as Charlie's Angels... kind of crazy to think its somewhat lifelike

Crispin Glover came out dressed as his character in a movie called Rubin and Ed. He thought Letterman would get a kick out of it (pun intended). I remember watching it when it originally aired and Letterman was seriously freaked out. They cut to a commercial and Glover was gone. The next night Letterman did a skit about it. He acted like it was all a dream. Biff Henderson wakes Dave up saying it was real. He said that he followed Glover home and smothered him in his sleep.

Glover said in the Stuff article that the reason he was not in BTTF2 was not due to him wanting more money. He was being paid less than half what the other returning actors were going to get. The interviewer asks if it's true that the producers didn't want him back or was it the money. He said it wasn't the money, but didn't say it was the other either.

he was on Jimmy Kimmel Live to promote Charlie's Angels 2 the day before it opened, they talked about the Letterman thing in some length (I forgot what they said, but they were joking around) then they talked about the movies he's made with Handicapped people, then they quickly talked about Charlies Angels and that was it

Glover came back on leterman a couple of months after the incident. He kinda sheepeshly apologised for the kick incident, which Dave accepted, and then proceeded to show Dave some of the Dioramas that he created, including one which portreyed a man dying in a volcanic lava flow. It was the quality of a second graders school project and Dave seemed interested in a pitying, apprehensive way.

I remember when he came back on. Dave was like "See, isn't this a lot better than what you did last time?"

I remember shortly after the kick incident he was on Johnny Carson. I tuned in wondering what kind of wackiness would ensue. I was surprised to see he was behaving well and not acting like he was on experimental drugs. I seem to remember he even brought one of those art projects like Tommy Ceez mentioned. Very strange.

Incidentally, on the Johnny Carson appearance he revealed he was the son of Bruce Glover (Mr. Wint from Diamonds are Forever among other roles). Until then, I never realized that.

I friggen loved Glover in this. Repeating "and I feel good about that" the arm wrestling etc... funny ****. I hate most late night talk shows: host compliments guest, guest compliments host, witty banter, repeat. At least Glover tried to create something a little less brain dead.

Exactly. They're all scripted, boring, wank-fests of platitudes, with the guest protomin' their latest movie/book/record, and Crispin, being Crispin, threw a LARGE monkey wrench into the pre-planned proceedings.

BTW, he also has a great cameo in Jim Jarmusch's excellent DEAD MAN, and last year's BARTLEBY, with Glover in the title role, has a dry, drole, dadaesque sense of humour.
