Don't spoil films for your fellow members, use SPOILER tags (learn how inside)
Thanks to JustinS for the original post - just doing some summer cleaning...
Just a reminder to our newer members, don't spoil the endings or major plot twists of films for other members. When in doubt, use spoiler tags.
When to use spoiler tags
Spoiler tags should be used whenever you are going to reveal, by virtue of your comments, a plot twist or ending of a film. This applies to new and old films. Just because you have seen a film 100 times, don't assume that everyone else has seen it yet.
However, if the entire thread is dedicated to an element of a film that might spoiler it for another member, place a spoiler warning in the title of the thread in lieu of using spoiler tags within the thread.
What are spoiler tags
Spoiler tags are like other vB code tags and are enclosed in brackets. Text enclosed within spoiler tags is presented in a black box that cannot be read by other members unless they intentionally try and do so.
How to use spoiler tags
Simply surround the text you wish to "blacken" with the word "spoiler" contained in brackets. For example:
[spoi1er]This text will be hidden[/spoi1er]
Notice the "/" in the closing tag. vB code, like html, requires a / in the closing tag. If we replace the "1" with an "l" the tags will work and we are left with:
Voila!
How to read spoiler tags
To read what is enclosed in spoiler tags, move your mouse pointer to the upper left hand corner of the black box, depress your left mouse button and, with the button still depressed, drag your mouse pointer across the box. This will reveal the hidden text.
You can also triple click on the spoiler tag box and it should highlight all of the spoiler.
