I read somewhere that in some theaters in Israel they use a device that blocks cellphones while inside.

A lot of theaters where I used to live would have special kid friendly showings on the weekends at like 10 am. They were usually free admission too. Show some older kiddie movie in several theaters. That worked out well to reduce the number of kids at the movies also.

I went to see Italian Job this weekend. A couple decided to bring their daughter who was probably 3.
I wonder if their conversation went something like this: "I have a great idea. Lets take our child who can't sit still or be quiet for more than 5 seconds to a film that she'll neither like nor understand!"
"Wow, what a frickin' GREAT idea!"
"And you know what? If she starts acting up and disturbing the other moviegoers... we won't do anything about it, execpt maybe we'll shoosh her every so often so people think we're being good parents!"
"Right on. I'm sure the other patrons will agree that our noisy daughter who can't stay in her seat is a wonderful addition to their moviegoing experience! Why do people even bring their kids to babysitters!! That's stupid!"

By the way.. the only thing worst than kids are adults who do the the same thing. They should know better.
I actually have some tolerance for the kids -- cause really its their stupid parents who are at fault -- but when the adult is the one being noisy I can't even enjoy the film -- cause all I'm thinking about is how much I hate that person.
