Anyone seen Wendigo? Thoughts?

I saw this at the Computer Store yesterday for $10. I thought it looked and sounded ok, but have never heard of it.

Should I bother?

Thanks!

Absolutely not! I rented this thinking it looked rather creepy, and on a recommendation from a BBV employee. It was pure and utter crap. At first it seemed like it was leading to something, and it had a bit of atmosphere. But I just waited and waited, and it built to nothing. Extremely dissapointing. I would never pay $10 for this. I wouldn't even rent it if I were you.

I'll second the "don't buy or rent" recommendation. I think my 9 year old son could have made a better movie than this amatuerish joke! Beware of the Jackalope!

Wendigo sucks.

I'll have to dig up my comments from horrordvds.com and post 'em here. But until I do, just trust me... this movie sucks. Bad.

That sounds like my experience with The Changeling, only replace BBV employee with forum patrons. And at $5 I felt ripped off.

I've heard really bad things about Wendigo, but haven't seen it myself, it's one of those "wait til it's on cable" movies.

I was curious about this title as well. Also, it's only $7.96 at Deep Discount DVD.

As promised...

Egads! Wendigo blew! I thought I had ranted about here it when it came out, but can't find the thread now.

Bad acting, bad script, pretty filming, but too damned gimicky. I fell out of my chair laughing when they had the mandatory Matrix Money Shot (the 380 freeze frame **** that is soooo overplayed, although the actual imagery in that scene rocked), and got seriously fed up with the constant use if the patented Blair Witch Shaky Cam. To it's credit, there was some decent gore and shock (hammer to head is always a winner) but when the monster finally showed up, well, my ass was on the floor again.

Bad movie.

I didn't think it was that bad, all things considered. It really turned out to be more of a drama than horror film, though. If you like low budget, indie films, at least rent it. I probably wouldn't spend $10 on it, however.

I watched the documentary included on how they created the monster, and I thought it was really interesting, especially since
Spoiler:
the creature is only seen for about a total of a minute.

Well, I'm not NOW...

I just pointed it out because he mentioned the $10 price as a factor... he might as well waste as little money as possible. I'll probably just wait for the Sci Fi channel to air this, somewhere between Stargate SG1 and She's All That.

Yes. Just imagine him being chased around by the Jackalope from America's Funniest People, and you basically have the movie.

I saw this last night and was pretty annoyed I decided to. the story is just weak. The director seems to have a huge ego and would periodically have some strange and pointless montages just for the hell of it. There was a decent amount of scary potential in the movie somewhere but it all goes to waste.

I was thinking that a really, really kick ass ending might make up for the tedious first 2/3 of the movie but it was even worse! The last 5/6ths of the movie are slightly interesting and that's it. Watch the trailer once (it gives away a hell of a lot) and then avoid the actual movie at all costs.

A movie that doesnt know whether it wants to be a monster movie, a haunted house kind of movie or a crazy redneck film but doesnt excel at either and leaves you scratching your head wondering why u wasted 2 hours of your life.

Wow. I really enjoyed this one. Maybe I was drunk or something, but I remember liking it.

Now I gotta see it again to find out.
